We have just spent three days here. A fabulous and sympathetic blend of the modern conveniences and the historical charm of this old monastery . Within 5 minutes walk of the Cathedral and the old town. Great value for money.

I came to the San Francisco Hotel Monumento at the end of a 150 mile Camino walk from Oporto, Portugal. Tired and needing a place to relax and be revived, this was an ideal place. With a reservation that didn't begin until the following day the desk staff made a special effort to accommodate me. The Cathedral is an easy... More

We treated ourselves to a 2 days of luxury at the end of our 44 day Camino trek and the San Francisco Hotel did not disappoint. The staff were most welcoming to a couple of dusty, tired pilgrims and even offered and wrote out their own Compostela marking the 800 year anniversary (2014) of the pilgrimage of Francis of Assisi.... Wonderfully splendid historic ambience. Great location and easy to find. Parking on site. Helpful staff, delicious breakfast choices, lovely evening meal, music choice in the dining room could have been less gloomy.

Excellent location - 10 minutes from the cathedral. Large rooms with comfortable beds. Great breakfast, good bar / cafe facilities. Very interesting building - they have put a modern interior in an old shell - done well, but use a moment of care in the lift. Helpful staff, decent English spoken If you get a room facing the courtyard -... More

Too much attitude and too expensive -don't waste your money! On our last visit (2 weeks ago) we stayed in a very nice historic hotel for one third the cost with all the amenities. When we got to the SF all we got was we can't do that for you, that's not allowed and you can't do that. Way too... More

Whether you are on pilgrimage or just exploring the city this hotel is simply wonderful. All the staff were exceptional throughout my 7 day stay. The rooms were comfortable and the décor impressive. The lounges, restaurant, café and all the outside spaces and the indoor pool and jacuzzi gave lots of opportunity for enjoyment and relaxation. The breakfasts are so... More

It has been 2 years since I stayed in this hotel after my camino. This year, we were booked at another hotel in which the room was unacceptable, and promptly booked ourselves at the San Francisco. The rooms are still clean and spacious, and the large bathrooms well appointed. We took advantage of the swimming pool. Close to everything, and... More

Check-in was painless and our superior room with a separate lounge was a lovely surprise. The hotel features a successful blend of old and modern with a sympathetic and warm decor which is in keeping with its history as a monastery. Service was faultless, anything we asked for was quickly delivered. Extra touches were a piece of cake with a... More

Whilst the San Francisco Hotel building is impressive and the location is good, our stay was a real disappointment. The atmosphere was cold and impersonal. The reception staff were professional but there was a distinct lack of friendliness. The rooms are large but sparsely furnished as if the hotel itself has taken its own vows of poverty. Particularly irritating was... More

Dear guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your impressions of our hotel. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. We truly try to be accommodating and to provide great service. As for the air conditioning, we control it at the front desk. We have a computer where we set the degrees that... More
