We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in July. As soon as you walk though the door from the street it’s like entering another world – dark wood, atmospheric lighting, antiques – just what I had hoped for. We booked a historic room (in the main building) and were lucky enough to be lodged in room 104 which looked... more

Honestly, this is probably the hardest review for me to write about lodging where I have stayed. I waited a few months to write this because I first intended to blast the hotel for what I think is a major flaw that I will explain later. Fortunately, time has a pragmatic effect on me and I can focus on what... more

Hotel Virxe da Cerca is perfect - close to the centre, excellent restaurant, light breakfast room overlooking a courtyard garden, very friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel, right from a welcoming receptionist to professional waiting staff. This is better than most 5-star hotels we have stayed in. The room - 205 - is spacious, quiet, with balcony overlooking a... more

We had just completed the Camino de Santiago and needed a room for two days to relaxed. In the Santiago Tourist office they were able to get us a room at this wonderful hotel. Having been staying in refuges the last few weeks, this luxury was wonderful for us. They have a part of the hotel that is slightly older,... more

We really appreciated the small unique feeling this hotel provided. We stayed in the new wing just about 50 feet from the main hotel area. Room was nice for two folks, we squeezed in our two kids as well and it was a bit tight. We ate breakfast every morning in the breakfast area overlooking a little park like setting.... more

We stayed at the Virxe de Cerca after completing our hike on the Camino de Santiago. It's a very nice hotel on the circular road surrounding the old, central part of Santiago de Compostela. It's only a five minute walk to the cathedral. Part of it is an old Jesuit residence, and the annex where we stayed is newer, that... more

Stayed 4 nights at Virxe da Cerca in September 2006. Booked through Octopus and were given rooms in the oledr part of the hotel, which would have been the more expensive. Very nice hotel and only 10 minutes walk from cathedral (though most direct route is up quite a steep hill). One of our rooms faced the front of the... more

Stayed in a triple sharing room which was very spacious, COZY and so European! Airconditioning was great and bathrooms clean. Staff not too accomodating though but location was superb and just walking distance to the Historical Center. Value for money and would definitely recommend this hotel! more

we found the hotel quite easily in santiago, be careful not to drive into the old quarter! the car park is right after the hotel in a one way street. then you have to pick up your bags and register to the hotel. Car park is not expensive : 1 day is 8 €. The hotel is wonderful, old furnishing...... more

We just loved this quiet and discreet hotel in Santiago when we visited recently for our anniversary. The room was spacious and spotless, the staff friendly and efficient and the grounds beautiful. Thoroughly recommended more
