We were in Parador Hostal Dos Reis Catolicos from July 25-26, and July 25 just happened to be St. James Day, celebrated all over Spain (since he's the country's patron saint) but the centre of all the festivities is right in Santiago. On the day we arrived, the new king and queen were there to grace the event. At the... More

I stayed here as a treat after walking the Camino. I have wanted to stay in a Parador for some time now and, with a good deal on a room, this was my chance. It's an absolutely fantastic building. It was lovely to walk through beautiful courtyards to my room. My room was quiet - all I heard was the... More

Stayed for 3 nights here with friends who had just completed the Camino walk. So if you want some luxury after a long slog this is the place to be. Beautiful hotel right next door to the Cathedral in a prettying square where all the pilgrims gather. Excellent accommodation. Comfortable rooms, clean and spacious. Good bathroom with plenty of very... More

The situation of this hotel is perfect for the foot weary pilgrim. It is directly beside the Cathedral of Santiago and it is breath taking. You enter the building from the square and reception is to the right had side . The staff were very professional and understated And we were escorted to our room which looked over the interior... I have very fond memories of this place after staying at end of Camino walk. Very simple rooms and really all you need after such an experience. Incredible location right across from Cathedral. Very reasonably priced with breakfast included. Highly recommended.

The Parador in Santiago is a phenomenal combination of unequaled historical ambiance and friendly, attentive service. While my room wasn't that of a 5-star hotel, it was certainly clean, comfortable, had all the amenities (flat screen TV, minibar, etc.). It also looked out over a Renaissance courtyard. The Parador has a bar, a cafe, and a fine dining restaurant. All... More

This is without doubt the prime location if you are a tourist or pilgrim in Santiago de Compostela. It faces the square that is also faced by the Cathedral where all of the pilgrims are headed as they travel through Spain. The rooms are relatively spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The hotel interior is very quiet. This hotel was built... More

In older times the Parador served as a hostel for pilgrims after reaching the shrine to St James in the adjacent cathedral. Beautifully appointed, it retains what one imagines to be a medieval atmosphere with its gorgeous antiques, the slightly subdued lighting and monastery tranquility in the galleries, cloisters and passageways, all contained by vast granite walls, . Set on... More

Great location and very close to Camino certificate office/cathedral/shops and accommodations. The interior gardens are stunning. Large, modern bathrooms. The front-desk service was great as was the breakfast buffet. Rooms by alley could be noisy. No gym.

Well if you love an historical hotel you can't beat this .Location right on the main square with a view of the cathedral and all the pilgrims who finish their walk there. If you take a car you can pay for valet parking, but you won't need it in the city as the old bit is small. We got directions from... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Royal Hospital, late 15th century pilgrim¿s hostelCombining history, art and tradition, the goal of pilgrims and the emblem of St. James, the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, in the Plaza do Obradoiro, forms together with the cathedral one of the world’s most remarkable, and most visited, urban settings. The Hostal, which first saw life as a Royal Hospital in 1499 to house the many pilgrims arriving in Santiago, today still invites the traveller to enjoy this universal and fascinating city.
