If you only ever stay in 1 Parador, stay here. From the moment we arrived, by car, the service was outsanding. Our cases were whisked away as was the car! We had a superior room which appeared to be an old chapel which was very special. The whole ambience is tranquil and comfortable. Whilst we did not eat our evening... More

What a delight this hotel is, right in th heart of the city. We had room 122 - ground floor out the back - really quiet and spacious. Checked the upper levels and from our tiki tour level 4 rooms look smaller - this is a newer level than the lower three. Staff are great and enough English to help... More

We stayed here for one night at the end of a short tour of Galicia. Having stayed in many Paradores over the years I can honestly say that this is the best one by far. This Parador is situated on the edge of the main square in Santiago right next to the cathedral. The hotel building has a very rich... More

Perfectly located in the old town adjacent to the cathedral. This hotel is a museum in itself. We stayed for two very wet and windy days in the city which would have been a washout if it were not for this hotel. Almost all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean (no bed bugs!).... More

This is a beautiful hotel, but there were bed bugs which left with us with bites all over our bodies ! Also when we ordered a pie from the hotel cafe, there was mould in the food. We told the waitress and at first she did not understand and then after she apologised. The breakfast was nice but food in... More

I have heard that this Parador is the oldest hotel in the world, could be. It is a Jewell and beautifully converted from a hospital to a hotel. It is a tourist site even if you don't stay at the hotel. Our room made us feel like royalty from the 1500's though with a mini bar, TV, modern bathroom, comfortable... More

New Years, excellent as always!!! This is our favorite hotel and place in ALL of Spain!!! Should you decide to go, spend the extra cash and reserve one of the superior rooms. The hotel used to be a monastery and is very castle-like inside. Their New Years celebration weekend could not have been better! Beautiful dinners, live music, atmosphere like... More

Santiago de Compostela´s parador de turismo is claimed to be the world´s oldest hotel, and as far as I can say - and I´ve been to quite impressive hotels all over the world before - it´s the best! Apart from staying in a real museum, the customers are treated superprofessionally by all staff. We spent New Year´s Eve here (since... More

Walking around the parador is a great art and architecture museum experience in itself. As pilgrims going to Santiago, it is pricy but with significant rebates so you get great value for money. Pilgrims are extra heartily welcomed and serviced. The breakfast table had everything you could think about, all the specialities of Santiago and Galicia, sweets and cakes, cava... More

I am surprised that so many reviewers have called this hotel a luxury hotel because it is not. It's a hotel in a magnificent historic building, very well kept, and its location cannot be beaten but the service is unimpressive. For those who want a 5-star experience I would recommend Quinta da Auga, a "Relais and Châteaux" hotel , 4... More
