Gorgeous bedrooms in a truly fabulous building, in a remarkable location. Excellent unobtrusive service. First-class breakfast buffet. Lovely public areas in which to relax. Many guidebooks describe this as the best hotel in Spain. I can well believe it. A truly, truly memorable place to stay.

Reputed to be the best Parador in Spain you can not fault it's location, grandeur, history and breakfast buffet is second to none, but to be the best you must remember the most important thing and that is "customer service". This was my second visit taking my wife on a drive of the Camino after walking it 4 years ago... More

If you are visiting Santiago De Compostela then a beautiful hotel right on the square adjacent to the Cathedral is perfect. The square is closed to traffic unless you are a guest of the hotel, and after you have unloaded your car it is spirited away to an underground car park for safe keeping. The hotel is everything that you... More

We stayed in Santiago for 3 nights at the beginning of August. The hotel is in the best location in Santiago, being on the square overlooking the church. It is located in a 500 year old monastery with loads of charm and history. Staying here makes you really feel part of the scene. It is a special hotel and the... More

Santiago is a wonderful place to be with constantly arriving pilgrims giving it a happy, joyous atmosphere. The hub is in the square with the Cathedral, the Paradore and Government buildings on 3 sides and endless activity in the middle so the location is perfect. It was a little difficult to find with the sat nav but thanks to tips... More

Though the building is really nice and the location is splendid the overall quality of service the hotel provides is poor given the price. There are much nices, better priced hotels in the city center of Santiago. Just go for a look in the old building….

We recently spent 3 nights at the Parador in the Cardinal's room (Pope John XXIII stayed there before becoming Pope). It was a huge room with true historic furnishings and charm. The bathroom was totally modern so it was quite a combo. The restaurant was outstanding and very reasonable compared to what we would see later in our trip. The... More

Incredible building right in the historic centre. However, would suggest that its 5 star rating is solely due to this as staff rather grumpy and unprofessional. We had dinner in the restaurant and were left waiting to be shown to table while staff member ignored us. Waiter literally flung the spoon on the table when serving starter, whilst I was... More

We were in Parador Hostal Dos Reis Catolicos from July 25-26, and July 25 just happened to be St. James Day, celebrated all over Spain (since he's the country's patron saint) but the centre of all the festivities is right in Santiago. On the day we arrived, the new king and queen were there to grace the event. At the... More

I stayed here as a treat after walking the Camino. I have wanted to stay in a Parador for some time now and, with a good deal on a room, this was my chance. It's an absolutely fantastic building. It was lovely to walk through beautiful courtyards to my room. My room was quiet - all I heard was the... More
