The Paradore in Santiago De Compostela is absolutely amazing! In addition to being a five star luxury hotel it is also an fantastic museum with over 500 years of history behind it. A place not miss if you are in the city! If you cannot afford a night here have a reasonable menu del día lunch at it's cafeteria and... More

Our expectations were high since we’d read our guidebooks (but not the reviews here) beforehand: “the palatial parador is Santiago’s top hotel” (Lonely Planet), “one of the most renowned paradors in Spain” (1000 Places to See), “one of the world’s most luxurious” (Hunter Travel), “one of the world’s grandest hotels” (Eyewitness Guide), “magnificent […] one of the world’s most famous... Fantastic location on the main square facing the cathedral. We had room on 4th floor overlooking courtyard. Nice sized room and bathroom - fairly typical Parador decorations. Good working shower in bath. Very good breakfast spread in nice dining room on 1st floor overlooking the Plaza. Negatives :- Really difficult to find the right access road by car - detailed... More

If you drive to Parador the signage in town is less than helpful as the road seems blocked to cars as you approach road leading to Plaza so you end up going past rear of Parador and down hill and only when you have circulated city and come back up hill from opposite direction does it make sense you have... Gorgeous bedrooms in a truly fabulous building, in a remarkable location. Excellent unobtrusive service. First-class breakfast buffet. Lovely public areas in which to relax. Many guidebooks describe this as the best hotel in Spain. I can well believe it. A truly, truly memorable place to stay.

Reputed to be the best Parador in Spain you can not fault it's location, grandeur, history and breakfast buffet is second to none, but to be the best you must remember the most important thing and that is "customer service". This was my second visit taking my wife on a drive of the Camino after walking it 4 years ago... More

If you are visiting Santiago De Compostela then a beautiful hotel right on the square adjacent to the Cathedral is perfect. The square is closed to traffic unless you are a guest of the hotel, and after you have unloaded your car it is spirited away to an underground car park for safe keeping. The hotel is everything that you... More

We stayed in Santiago for 3 nights at the beginning of August. The hotel is in the best location in Santiago, being on the square overlooking the church. It is located in a 500 year old monastery with loads of charm and history. Staying here makes you really feel part of the scene. It is a special hotel and the... More

Santiago is a wonderful place to be with constantly arriving pilgrims giving it a happy, joyous atmosphere. The hub is in the square with the Cathedral, the Paradore and Government buildings on 3 sides and endless activity in the middle so the location is perfect. It was a little difficult to find with the sat nav but thanks to tips... More

Though the building is really nice and the location is splendid the overall quality of service the hotel provides is poor given the price. There are much nices, better priced hotels in the city center of Santiago. Just go for a look in the old building….

Royal Hospital, late 15th century pilgrim¿s hostelCombining history, art and tradition, the goal of pilgrims and the emblem of St. James, the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, in the Plaza do Obradoiro, forms together with the cathedral one of the world’s most remarkable, and most visited, urban settings.
