Owner accepted our reservation but did not honor it when we arrived. She booked us at a nearby facility, inferior in quality of lodging, food and services. She then charged her rates for her facility and would not make any adjustment for us.

Anna is incredibly warm and welcoming. She is an anthropologist with the most in depth understanding of the region (if you want to have long and interesting talks about the effects the Spanish civil war had on wine production in the town over a delicious home cooked meal, you picked the right place). Absolutely charming- both the village and the cal compte.
Stunning views, you can easily tell the house has been lovingly restored/refurbished. We loved how they've managed to keep so many original details, making this a really quirky gem. The service was excellent, the breakfast delicious.
The only thing one should be aware of (and we were not) is that unless...

Lovely B&B in Torroja del Priorat which is a sleepy, small village in the mountains 40 minutes from Tarragona. We were part of a wine tour group. A truly remarkable place. Anna and Joaquim made us feel so welcome. Breathtaking views - literally. Only 1½ hours from Barcelona but a world away. An ancient town with cobblestone streets nestled in the mountains with views of vineyards, olive and almond groves. A wonderful place to recharge your soul.
Going to Cal Compte, located in Torroja del Priorat was a gamble. I could find the town on the map but that was about it. One other review for the pace convinced me, however, and we booked it. It is hard to convey just how special it was. The town is wonderful -- perched on a hill among terraced vineyards...

I chose Cal Compte because it not only met all of our requirements, but also tdue to my interaction with one of the owners, Anna. She was so helpful during...
