This was my third trip to Barcelona and this was by far the best hotel I have stayed in. Its a leisurely 10 minute stroll from Las Ramblas. The rooms have a modern trendy look and are quite large for a city centre hotel and everything was clean and in good repair. The rooftop area is an added bonus and... More

We (group of 6 friends) stayed here after Christmas. Great place. Very design-modern (as such not very spanish at all). Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Rooms may differ. We had 3 and all were different in size. No outside noice coming in, only a bit loud when our neighbours got home in the middle of the night. Jacuzzi on... More

Unfriendly staff, small and noisy rooms. The first room we got was at the back of the hotel. There was no noice from the street but we could hear the people in de next room breathing. We got another room but this room was even worse. A little bigger, but a lot more noisy (from the street as well as... More

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights during July and found the hotel to be pretty much as its shown on the website - whihc is a good thing. The room was a decent size, fairly basic in that it consisted of a bed, desk and chair, but then that is exactly what we expected. The decor - all... More

After a very, very long research I decided to choose this hotel for our 5 day trip in Barcelona, and I am very happy that I did so. Hotel Ciutat Vella is a new hotel, situated very close to placa catalunya, on the border between Raval and L'eixample- perfect. In spite of the central location, it's situated in a narrow,... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
