We recently spent 5 weeks travelling in Portugal and Spain, staying in budget/reasonably priced hotels, and Dingdong Express/Barcelona was our only disappointment. The location wasn't bad but the self check-in/no staff on site was problematic, the room was minuscule and there was no air conditioning or exterior windows so it felt claustrophobic and stuffy. We gladly left after one night.

We stayed at this hostel in August, had a double room with ensuite shower. Perfect for what we wanted. The room is simple but stylish, very good shower, very clean, very secure building & room. Good communication from hostel via email about gaining access to building etc. Didn't see a receptionist but managed to book in on the machine (momentary... More

Me and my boyfriend was in barcelona for a long weekend, 5 days. We are super happy with the stay at hostal express. The only thing we missed was a small refrigerator. But its a hostel so what more can we expect that it was very nice and clean and low price!

-Το μόνο καλό αυτού του hostal ήταν ότι είναι πολύ κοντά σε στάση τρένου. περίπου 200 μέτρα από τον σταθμό "gracia". 200 meters from the train station "gracia". More

New and stylish interior. Big rooms with bid beds, very clean. It was very easy to access the hotel. It wasn't my first time in Barcelona so I didn't need any help from receprion. But you can find downstair maps that you can need during your trip. The area is very quite. I strongly recommend this hotel to everybody!

I stayed here for almost two weeks in September 2013, and will be happy to return if I am ever again in Barcelona. The hotel is small, but it has everything needed for a budget traveller. The rooms are new, clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the simple modern design and the updated bathroom facilities. This was my first experience... More

To be honest I booked this Hostel by mistake - I thought I had booked a proper Hotel for our 1 night stay in Barcelona until we arrived outside and to my shock found it was a 'hostel'! This is a tiny boutique hotel located on a tiny street in the Gracia section of Barcelona. The metro station is right on the corner and has many restaurants to choose from in the surrounding streets. The quad room was just the right size with a nice decor and a private bathroom. Could have been a little cleaner.

Staying in Gracia

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
