I am slightly reluctant to review because I want the apartment to be free next time I want to return. We are just finishing a five night break here, the apartment is a perfect retreat, very comfortable, spacious, and with touches of brilliance. I like the personal touch; the lovely product for the bathroom, the robes and towels, the oranges... More

Hi Martin We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time in Barcelona and have clearly fallen in love with our 39 Steps apartment. We find the little extras make all the difference to our guests. What better way than to start the day with fresh coffee and orange juice before mingling with the locals at La Boqueria market. We... More

What a super find , we stayed here after staying at the Rotunda in Birmingham a few times and this apartment is owned by them . You step off the bus and within 5 minutes or less you are in the room , super location , super facilities within walking distance of most things but even though you are in... More

Superb location, great apartment. Historic building beautifully done up with all latest mod cons - luxy bathroom, espresso machine. Much better experience than 5 star hotel - we really felt like we lived in Barcelona.

This is the first online review I've ever written about anything, but for some reason I feel compelled to write one for staying cool's 39 steps in barcelona. Cool isn't really the word, from the unmarked graffitied door onto the street, to the coffee machine, comfy sofa, and Juliet balcony overlooking the bustling street below, it's pretty damn cool. The... More

I've now been to this appartment twice, and wouldn't hesitate to return. The location is brilliant - so close to La Rambla and less than a 10 minute walk from the airport bus drop off stop at Placa Catalunya. It was all so very easy and felt hugely safe. Positives for me were the location, walk-in shower, free wifi and... More

My husband and I had a fantastic 4 night break here. It was very good value for money as there was a "4th night free" offer - so for such a central location we were very pleased. I agree with all that the previous review said about location - it is surrounded by everything you need within easy walking distance.... More

My boyfriend and I went for three nights and four days mid December. Barcelona is amazing and the apartment is 20 seconds off La Rambla, please don't be put off by the graffiti on the door into the apartment or the stairs as you walk up to the apartment because the apartment is lovely. We also got their 'fit and... More

I have to qualify this review and say that I won this trip following a facebook competition. However would I have paid the going rate?- yes without question. The main downstairs door is graffiteed, but that is separate from the appt. The appt is fantastic- so close to the Ramblas. The appt is clean and bright and very spacious. It... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
