Stayed at the Catalonia Avinyo the week leading up to Xmas. Had a fantastic time the room was perfect, the location was brilliant and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The male receptionist provided us with a list of lovely Tapas restaurants away from La Rambla. The room was a room was quiet considering the central location. Would definitely stay... More

This is a great place to stay in Barcelona - it is in the heart of the historic quarter, it's quiet and modern. The staff is great - very helpful and friendly. Wifi is excellent and they have a computer station with a printer. There's a rooftop pool and hottub as well as an exercise room (though with all the... More

I stayed at Catalonia Avinyo after working at a conference in Barcelona. On arrival the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I was given a room (507) which was inside facing. When I got to the room I was freezing and couldn't turn the aircon off so had to call reception, when someone came to look I was told... More

Extremely pleasant, helpful and courteous staff. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed. Great breakfast with lots of choice of hot or cold food. The location in the gothic quarter was superb. We recommend the Hotel Avinyo and will most definitely be staying there next time we visit. This hotel and its staff made our visit to beautiful... Ideally situated in the Old City (Ciutat Vella) in Bari Gotic, this is where you want to stay in Barcelona. Close to metro Liceu and a short walk from La Rambla. Super friendly staff. Very clean. New rooms. Comfortable space, great bathrooms. Fast and always on WiFi. Superb location. We are actually considering returning next year! We were on our... More

This hotel is very good. It is modern and trendy, and very quiet and comfortable at the same time. The location is perfect, in the beautiful Barri Gotic, very close to La Rambla and Plaza Real, with plenty of pubs, shops and attraction within five minutes walking distance. It is also very close to the Liceu metro stop. Highly recommended.

We stayed here based on the location and it's in the best part of the Gothic Quarter. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the size was not too bad. Bathrooms need a litte refurbishing but overall are ok. Unfortunately our first room was in the middle of the hotel therefore there were no... More

We stayed 5 nights here last year and it was a great choice. Service was very good and friendly. Not so anymore. This time we stayed 1 night before a cruise and one night after. Arrived early for the first night and everything was fine for that day. When it came time to leave, there was a young woman behind... More

We had a very enjoyable long weekend at this hotel. Staff were extremely helful and friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The location was right in the Gothic quarter and close to the marina, we went for a lovely run down to Barcalonetta along coastal path. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
