Stayed for two nights mid-week in May and was very happy with this place. The location is walking distance from La Rambla (about 5 mins) and Plaça de Catalunya (about 10 mins). The immediate surrounding area is okay - a few small grocery shops and bars - but definitely not vibrant nightlife. The room is small but all that you... More

The room is clean and spacious enough. The shower is powerful and relaxing. They respect your privacy when you put the sign on the door, different from other places I stayed. Breakfast is awesome! You can get the batteries recharged after a good night of sleep in the super comfy bed and the complete breakfast (with plenty of options for... More

There is nothing remarkable about this hotel except for the free coffee served all day in the basement. The location is great. On a lively street in El Raval within walking distance to Plaza Catalonia, the boqueria and the Gotic area. It's super clean, but the rooms are small and the mattresses are as hard as a rock. For the... More

My girlfriend and I stayed a the Hotel Acta BCN 40 for 6 nights and on the whole, really enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is in a perfect location for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of everything Barcelona can offer - from a metro station 5 minutes away (Universitat) to Las Ramblas (5 minutes), the Cathedral... Brilliant location just a few streets from Las Ramblas. Very clean and very new feel to it. Room small with little French window out onto street. Great shower! Great local bar next door offering well priced and great value tapas and cheap great beer. Was our local for our few nights stay and experienced a Barcelona FC game on tv... More

We travelled to Barcelona on the May bank holiday weekend, and had read lots of reviews for lots of different hotels. We picked this hotel as it was very central, just off the Ramblas and near a metro entrance which lead to just about everywhere. Our room was on the 2nd floor and overlooked the street, which was alive with... More

We spent 5 nights and days in Barcelona and really appreciated the Hotel for its situation/location, for the efficient and helpful staff, its services and finally a good price ratio. If we have to go to Barcelona again, we will for sure choose this hotel !

The staff was friendly and hotel was clean. Breakfast was good with a wide variety and fair price. I was visiting for a convention at the CCIB (Forum), which was a bit more of a hike than I expected. It look about 45 minutes to get to the venue by metro, but it was close to decent restaurants and la... More

The hotel is a matter of minutes from La Rambla, access to the Metro system and other attractions. (Take a tour of the the Teatro Lyceu on La Rambla) A major feature of the hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff who are available all day and are good linguists. We were provided with a corkscrew and... More

Finding the hotel was very easy and it is in a great location. People saying it is in a seedy, unsafe alley need to travel more!! Felt totally safe the whole time I was there. Check in was very quick. Receptionist was very friendly and offered us lots of information. On arriving at the room I was disappointed. When I... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
