My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Canton from 10/23 - 10/26 prior to our transatlantic cruise. We very much enjoyed the stay and the fabulous customer service. Two blocks from the Ramblas and very close to public transportation. It was very easy to get everywhere. There was a laundry mat about thirty yards away which enabled us to... More

Review Hotel Canton This is a former hostel now upgraded to a hotel. It is near the Columbus Monument and a five-minute walk to the city bus to the cruise ships. [hotelcanton-bcn.com] I had a single for 40 euros a night. Breakfast was 5 euros. The single room was small but immaculate. The bed was a twin. The shower is... More

the good stuff: -location: 3 min from the metro station drassanes, las ramblas and many bars/restaurants from the gothic area. -big bathroom, safe deposit and mini fridge -price! the bad stuff: -I did not particularly liked the breakfast, but it was not terrible either (after all it is just 5 euros). The timing was not convenient either (8-10 am) -If... More

We stayed here five nights during Barcelona's La Merce Festival in September. The room was clean and adequate for our purposes. (The wi-fi only worked in designated areas.) The location was perfect--a block away from Las Ramblas, the Metro and the Marina. There was a bit of noise a couple nights, but probably due to the festival. Easy walking distance... More

I liked it very much. It was well placed in the gothic quarter of he city and it was well priced and a very clean room. Walking distance to almost everything you want to see. Would recommend to young people who are travelling.

What I like about this hotel is it's pretty close to la ramblas. Few minutes walk to the metro train station and bus stops. The housekeeper does not know how to tidy up the room. She changed the bed cover but she left the old ones in the room. She only fixed the bed but left the room exactly as... More

Came in late on sundaynight which was no problem. Frontdesk guy was friendly. Room space was ok. Asked for a double bed in the reservation, which was confirmed, but got two single beds. Bathroom was ok, spacious but stale air out of the shower drain. Beds were moderate, bedsprings are still in my back. WIFI on the room (403) was... More

We stayed one night precruise at the Hotel Canton. We were pleased to have a small balcony in our twin room and left the door open all night so we could hear the sounds of the city. So loved the area, it was just a few blocks from La Rambla and the port. Everything was clean and the staff was... More

It was good and comfortable, I come early from the train and got a room before 12:00 -and before they put my suitcase in a locked room for keeping. The staff member was helpful, they speak English and give a map of Barcelona, wifi was OK. I had not know that in order to light the room the keycard should... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
