This was my worst ever stay. I got no sleep whatsoever as the street was so noisy and there seemed to be little sound proofing, it was like we were actually in the street. There was a tile on the floor broken into three or four pieces which we had to be careful when walking around with our bare feet.... More

We just got back from a trip to Barcelona. After reading some reviews, I decided to book Hostal H.M.B. We stayed on the second floor and our room was facing the street (room 112). Our room was decent size and so was the bathroom. After all, this is Europe; room sizes here tend to be small! Like many reviewers have... More

This trip was made in the summer. The temperatures averaged 30ºC (86ºF). Positive points: - This place is really well located. Right next to Passeo de Grácia, which is one of the best places to go shopping in Barcelona. The neighbourhood around the hotel is very beautiful and pleasant to visit. It's very easy to find supermarkets and coffee bars.... More

I have just got back from my stay at HMB and I got really badly bitten by bed bugs. It ruined the stay and the bites were so bad my face and body were disfigured and I didn't want to go out in public. The staff don't speak or didn't want to speak English when I tried to complain and... More

Got a great deal so wasn't expecting much but it surprised us. Staff were friendly and the room was small but clean with a tv and bathroom - just what we needed since we were out exploring Barcelona most of the time. Street noise might be a problem for some people but it didn't bother us.

Travelling with my daughter, I requested a twin bedded room thru Booking.com several weeks in advance of our stay. After a grueling 12 hour travel day, we arrived late in the day to find a double bedded room. After a lengthy pidgin English/Spanish discussion in which the management offered only a take it or leave it attitude, we decided to... More

Having read various reviews of the Hostal, I was a bit apprehensive about noise levels and how basic the facilities might be. I was very pleasantly surprised, then, to find that it is clean and efficiently run, with everything necessary for a short stay. The room was small, with a comfortable bed and an ensuite shower/loo. The room was cleaned... More

I was at Hostal HMB for nine nights over Xmas and New Year. I couldn't find anything wrong at all.It was in a residential area so noise was to be expected(it didn't disturb me at all).Although hardly any of the (friendly) staff spoke English ,I made myself understood with my sparse knowledge of Spanish.(Try finding a guest house in London... Staying in Gracia

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
