Well the room and shared bathroom was clean, but bed was really not comfortable. I stayed 2 nights. Great location, but what pissed me off a lot was that when i came to bring my luggage in the evening (because my flight was in the evening i asked if i can leave my luggage somewhere in the hostel and receptionist... As described when booking. Very basic, free breakfast. Small room with sink, double bed, free WiFi and an outdoor balcony overlooking the pubs and clubs. Great central location. Two minute walk to the Old Port and 5 minute walk to Cathedral. Lots of quirky shops on Avinyos.

It's a hostel and as such a reasonable one with free buffet breakfast. I've stayed in much worse for the same money. :):):):):)vvvvvvvv:)v:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Finishing up a three-day trip in Barcelona. I think that people who leave reviews need to understand that this place is a hostel and not a hotel. That usually means no elevator, byob towels and toiletries, sharing bathrooms, busy areas with noise. And hostal baires actually is a little better than other hostels by providing some of those things. You... More

I went to Barcelona for a design meeting for 4 days. The hotel is located 5 minutes from las ramblas, so is really central. Its situated on the 1st floor of a 5 building floors, my room was really dark, the blind didn't open and it had a strong smell to detergent, to a point that cause me nauseas, it... More

For a low cost, you are situated in the heart of Las Ramblas AND have a small breakfast included (which consists of coffee, juice, muffins, toast)! If you are planning on staying anywhere in Las Ramblas, it is going to be noisy regardless. I was somewhat worried as people suggested bringing ear plugs, however the sound was not that bad... More

Stayed here in June 2013 with my boyfriend. We arrived just in time for the festival of St John which was amazing. Stayed in Hostal Baires for the three days we were in Barcelona. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's located just off La Rambla, a short walk from Liceu metro station. A slightly longer walk... More

Spent 2 nights in between cruises, booked for the proximity to the cruise port & "breakfast" included. Absolutely horrible! I had stayed last year in Barceloneta for 4 months and thought to stay alittle closer and save on the cleaning fees of an apartment. What a mistake! First night my husband and I were in a room with shared bath... More

I came across Baires as I was looking for something at the last minute. Everything was booked up but I managed to find a room at this Inn. The rates were just in my budget which was ideal as other hostel in that area were higher. The place is nicely located and the beach/Old Town is near by. The rooms... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
