We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The room was spacious, modern and really clean. It was also nice and quiet so we were able to have the window open to get some air at night. We found the front desk personnel very friendly and helpful - especially Oriel who let us practice our Spanish on him. The... More

Dear CRM13, Thank you very much for this positive feed back. All the team (Oriol of course included) has been really satisfied to see that you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you appreciated services as breakfast à la carte or the walk through the gothic quarter. We think your review will help other future guest not to miss... More

The location was perfect for exploring the old city (Barri Gotic, La Rambla, Born, and Raval) as well as the eastern reaches of the Eixample area. It is a short walk to Placa Catalunya where the hop-on-hop off buses originate (recommend the red route - its the only one we took). The location also felt safe - my husband went... More

My husband and I stayed in this comfortable and conveniently located hotel in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. We chose this hotel based solely on the reviews we read on tripadvisor. com. We were not disappointed. Just steps from the quiet side street the hotel is located on is the Catedral. From there you can walk or take the... More

Great hotel! We were right next to the roof top pool. Fantastic location - shopping so close by. Rooms very clean and modern. The staff could use a "customer service" course...often not helpful and unfriendly.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of January 2010 on the way down to Nerja in the South. We cannot fault this hotel for a short break with sightseeing in mind. On the Wednesday evening there was a free guided walk of the Gothic quarter which was most interesting and we were taken down small alleys which we... More

As soon as the Taxi pulled into the square in front of Barcelona Cathedral in the Barrio Gotic and stopped, I knew we had a superb location. It is literally 25 yards from the square down a small side street and somehow completely away from any noise. This is the gothic quarter, full of narrow streets so don't book for... More

Our group of 6 adults (40 - 55 years) stayed 1 night pre-cruise and 2 nights post-cruise. The hotel is in a great location just a few steps from the Barcelona Cathedral, resturants, banks and shops and about 10 minutes walk from the Ramblas. The hotel is in a minamilist, modern style with good sized rooms and bathrooms including flat... More

Myself and my partner visited Barcelona in February 2010 and decided to stay in Hotel Catedral on the basis of the reviews we'd read on this site. We were not disappointed. The hotel is located minutes from the Ramblas and is perfectly positioned for exploring the warren of streets that makes up Barcelona's old town. Check-in was quick and efficient... More

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your support and compliments!!! The Hotel Team was very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the point of coffee and tea facilities, yes indeed there is a rate, but it is a symbolic one. Only 1.50 € for two teas and two coffees. Once again we would like to encourage... More

I spent hours on Trip Advisor looking for a Barcelona hotel at no more than $200 a night including breakfast that didn't have a lot of negative points such as: too noisy, luggage stolen from lobby, tiny room, uncomfortable bed, bad service, or all of the above. Hotel Barcelona Catedral did not disappoint: we got a not-exactly-spacious, but immaculately modernist... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
