It's a simple and clean and resty hostel in the Gothic quarter. It is on the fourth floor with no elevator, but there's a few minutes walking from the Rambla, Catalunya and the Cathedral Barcelona. Fair accomodation for your money.

This was our second stop in a group trip last august going around Europe! this place was perfect for what you are paying! be warned it is a long way up the stairs but it defo keeps you fit, or how me and my friend found out after being on a night out.. quite a hilarious challenge when under the... Mariluz Hostel is located in a good spot. But it is filled with young people partying and staying up all night. We were woken up one night by an idiot banging on the door screaming at a friend to let him in at 4am. This place is only for young people traveling on the cheap staying up all night. Families... Perfect location for exploring Barcelona. Public transport close, airport bus walking distance, grocery stores for self catering and snacks nearby plus endless choice of restaurants. Tiny room [double] but very clean. Shared bathrooms clean. One good sized bathroom but the other 2 showers are tiny. Up a lot of stairs so not suitable for people with big cases. Our room... More

We had two adults and two children staying in a room at the Mariluz. The room was a little tight for 4, the beds ok, but the pillows terrible! As said elsewhere, it's a long way up the stairs! On the positive, it is very cheap, very friendly and in a great location

Stayed here for 4 nights in May 2014 with a friend. We had read that there was no elevator for 3 flights are we were ok with that since we live on the 3rd floor of a building with no stairs. But upon arrival the 3 flights were more like 5 or 6 normal american flights of stairs. very hard... More

Despite being really close to the Ramblas action, it's in a pretty quiet location. Rooms are tiny, and there's no lift for the 3 flights of stairs, but it is really really clean (even in the shared bathrooms we had - they must be cleaned continuously). Staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful - sorted out a problem we had with... More

Good price- get room #1 if you can. We ended up changing rooms due to sewer pipe smell coming from our sink. Rooms are tight and tiny but we made it work. You may want to explore where to book online as I discovered it was actually a better deal to book through a third party rather than directly with... More

This small Pension is perfectly located in the city of Barcelona. Only a 3 minutes walk from La Ramblas en also 3 minutes from the cathedral. Rooms and shared bathrooms are held perfectly clean and are cleaned every day. The pension is on the 3rd floor, without elevator it's a back braking job to get your suitcase upstairs. Also the... I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a simple clean hostel in a good location, no fancy bed linen or anything. The room, kitchen, showers and bathrooms were immaculately clean and staff were friendly. The showers and bathrooms were always available. The rooms are small but true to size as stated. Bins changed everyday and every two... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
