Recently stayed at Hostal Mare Nostrum for two nights. Rooms are small but we knew this when making the booking (after reading reviews). Rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Great location! Great breakfast! Friendly helpful staff.

Imagine the tiniest room for 4 possible in the middle of La Rambla with the basic necessities...there were 4 single beds, some shelves, a clothes rack of about only 1 foot long with a few hangers, 4 wall mounted hooks behind the door (where you can hang coats), the smallest suitcase rack I have seen in hotel rooms, a toilet... I stayed in a room for 4 persons. It is not the biggest room in the world but it works perfectly. Comfortable beds. Our room was cleaned up and we get clean towels every day (7 or 8 towels for 4 persons). Shower with very good pressure. Breakfast with fruits (not fresh fruit, unfortunately), bread, ham and cheese, jam, croissants,... More

Room was a little small as a result the twin beds were pushed together might as well had been a double bed. Apart from that the service was very good, breakfast was quite nice and it was good value for money

Warn you before booking. You have to take your luggages from street level up to the hostal, it is about stairs with 2 floors long. Room is clean but tiny. Find yourself packed with you luggages unpacked.

We stayed here recently at the end of our cruise. I think our cab driver never would have found it if it weren't for GPS, but thankfully he had it under control. What I loved - We arrived hours before check-in, but they were able to store our luggage in a locked room. We were able to buy our hop... More

Front desk and waiters at Breakfast room where very helpful and polite. the Metro was right there, restaurants, the promenade Las Ramblas is a really busy spot but safe until midnite. I have been in Barcelona before I went to the Castle Mountjuic and eat the buffet for 10E in Paseo de Gracia Vaca Paca. the Port is 10 minutes... More

YES there are stairs to carry your own luggage up and down from the first floor check in, the front desk staff will not help you...if you are older or have an injury you better have someone healthy and strong to carry your stuff, we carried my parents gigantic bags up but if we were not there they NEVER would... Staying in La Rambla

Neighborhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-meter boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetizing selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
