If you're looking for good location on small budget, but don't want to compromise on privacy and cleanliness - this hostel is the right place! We chose 2 bed room with ensuit shower and toilet, which was super clean, just across the gate of La Franca train station that brought us from the airport, 10-15 min. walk from Columbus monument... We felt very proud of our choice! we got a good deal for the best price ever! Honestly, we felt like checking in a 4 star hotel and the room were very clean and safe. Its location was the best part. However, the nigh shift guy was very rude!

It all depends on what you expect in a hotel and what amenities you consider necessary. No TV in the room, no phone, no coffee maker, no mini-bar, no safe. No toiletries besides a postage stamp-sized bar of soap. (bring your own)...but the beds were comfortable, the bathroom modern, the paint new, and it was very clean. The cranky old... More

All in all we had a pleasant in the Hostal Nuevo Colon. The hostel is located 500meter to the city beach Barceloneta and only a few minutes to walk to the famous Gothic Quarter. The hostel, rooms and sanitary installations are not very spacious or appealing but always clean and well-kept. Unfortunately the whole hostel is not really soundproof. In... More

Typical hostel building was a bit old. But to our surprise the room was very clean and big enough for a couple. We stayed at the hostel two times so we saw two different rooms. We chose rooms with private bathroom. The first room was a bit dark with no window or balcony but good enough and with clean toilet... More

Perfect Location in El Born close to the Picasso Museum , Basilica Santa Maria Del Mar, Las Rambles & the Waterfront & many good quality tapas bars. Located oppostite a main train station with easy transport to and from the airport. Staff does not all speak English as in most parts of Spain. WiFi (as advertised) is in the public... More

The location is perfect. It's right across from the train station. Within walking distance of the beach, La Rambla and most of the other places I wanted to visit. There's a stop nearby for the Barcelona Bus Turistic (which I'd definitely recommend). There are loads of cafes, restaurants and bars less than 5 minutes away. I would definitely give this... More

Perfect location for a city trip! Very clean for hostel! It is a fine place to spend a couple nights. Nice staff, especially young lady on the day shifts! But when you plan to stay there, you have to remember that it is a hostel, not 5* apartment. Don't forget to take some shampoo with you, and be sure that... More

Bad price to quality ratio. Terrible, small, dark room. Terrible wifi connection, the night staff were so rude (the girl during the day was lovely). Unclean bathrooms. Generally dark and gloomy inside. Centrally located but for the same price you can find better options.

Nice location - close to beach and market areas. Staff at front desk very pleasant. Noise from other rooms was a bit loud. No TV. Wifi was a bit sporadic. No fridge. Shower was very small -ie - had to get out of the shower to pick up the soap I dropped:) BUT ---overall good value for the location.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
