It was annoying that we paid €167 for two nights for a private room when we saw it advised on the door for €29 per night for a private room when we stayed. Location was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was ok, nice and quite with aircon and a sink. Big issue for us was there was... More

Location is ok - it is about 10 minutes walk to the Ramblas, 15 to old town. My room was more spacious than I expected but the smell of cleaning products was so strong in there it made me feel quite sick until i'd had windows open for a few hours. Shared bathroom was clean but often without toilet paper... More

Room was smaller then expected but pretty good location in my opinion. My one very big disappointment was the staff. Reception are absolutely useless. They all seem grumpy and not willing to help at all. After prebooking a couple days in advance for a boat party, they still seemed to miss my name. When I tried to get it fixed,... More

For all the backpackers travelling to barcelona, this is the place to stay. The rooms and washrooms are clean. The beds are comfortable. The location of this hostel is brilliant as it is just few metres away from the hustle and bustle of la ramblas. The hostel staff is also very friendly. They would give you tips about your travel... This hostel has the basic need for me: "An airconditioned room with a comfortable bed". If you have difficulty in climbing stairs and using common bathroom/toilet then this is not for you. There is an elevator that starts from 1st floor (2nd floor to other countries) and it is vveerryy ssllooww. The reception staff are friendly and helpful.

This hostel offered me everything I needed: private room and bath, good location, and friendly, helpful staff. My only problem was the elevator doesn't start on the ground floor. After an exhausting day of travel or sightseeing, it was tough to drag myself up the stairs a flight to get to the elevator. Otherwise it was exactly what I needed.

This was an acceptable place to stay in a decent location of Barcelona but it is extremely basic. No elevators. We had a private suite and it was very small. Maybe I am spoiled from never staying in typical hostel but I was expecting more from a private suite. We did stay in a hostel in Rome a couple weeks... More

I had obtained a cheap return flight from Glasgow, and as I have another two holidays booked in the near future, I did not want to spend a lot on accomodation. I found the Hostel Ramblas, which seemed to fit the bill at 100 euros for 4 nights, and was in a good central location. There are a number of... More

Travelled from Sept 22-25th 2014. We arrived a bit late due to the unclear directions from google maps. Upon arrival, we've been greeted by a lovely friendly staff that took in all our details and gave us the keys. The lift were a little small but thats fine as boyfriend and I only had a small suitcase to share. We... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
