I visited this hotel along with 2 friends in September 2014. The staff are so friendly and are always available to help, offering advice, places to visit and the quickest and cheapest routes. The hotel itself is situated in a great location, 2 minutes away from the local metro station and 5 minutes away from the 'high street' called plaza... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Central. The staff were welcoming, courteous and always happy to help. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. The location of the hotel was good - many sights were within easy walking distance and the metro was close by.

This is my favorite place to stay in Barcelona. Its right in the middle of the city, a few blocks from Plaza Catalunya and Barrio Gotico. The hotel itself is very modern with an amazing rooftop pool/bar. Staff was extremely helpful and fluent in both Spanish and English. They helped us nab a last minute reservation for new years eve... Located close to Barcelona Cathedral and on a busy thoroughfare amongst the myriad of tiny streets in the Barrio Gotico stands the Grand Hotel Central. The hotel staff were welcoming and attentive - luggage briskly taken to my room and the facilities explained. Given this is a comfortable contemporary insertion into an older building there are going to be a... More

Everyone was very helpful… If you look at the pictures could the pool shot say more? The hotel was close to everything, great staff, nice rooms, and fun city. The infinity pool was second to none. Search out the small great Tapas restaurant. Bodega Biarritz 1881 second to none!!

A stay at the Grand Hotel Central is a pleasant experience. It is not fantastic or particularly special due to any outstanding asset (at least not in winter when the roof-top pool is not an option) – but it is the overall experience that makes this a good stay. Or in other words: There is nothing material to complain about.... More

I recently stayed in the hotel as part of a large group of friends heading to Barcelona for a special weekend. We all fell in love with the hotel from our moment of arrival. To start with the location is ideal. A simple 5 minute walk and you are in the heart of the city. If you walk a little... More

We arrived on a Thursday evening and left after a leisurely Sunday breakfast. This was a perfect long weekend for a romantic and full sightseeing trip to this beautiful city. The hotel is walking distance to many of the sights and a stones' throw from the nearest metro station for further afield attractions. Within the Gothic quarter the local area... More

I now have visited this excellent hotel four times, different years, and always found the staff very friendly and helpful, the rooms very nice and clean and the breakfast is great . This year my wife and I was here with our grown-up kids and their partners, staying in three different rooms, and everyone was very satisfied. The hotel is... More

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Central in Barcelona and would gladly go back. The hotel is centrally located across from the Barcelona Cathedral. The staff could not have been friendlier. They were always willing to answer your questions, give recommendations and help with securing tickets to attractions. My number one recommendation if you are visiting Barcelona, buy tickets... Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
