The hotel is located in short walking distance from La Rambla. Nice local café and restaurants in the hotel area. I got a modern room at 1st floor with a small (french?) balcony. Busy road outside, but no noise problem when the balcony doors were closed. Nice modern hotel, friendly staff, nice room, nice location. I would like to stay... More

This was my third time in Barcelona. This is, by far, my favorite hotel in the city. The staff was friendly, professional and very courteous. My check in went very smoothly. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. I also had a nice balcony view of the street. I was a short walk away from Las Ramblas and many other... More

I stayed in Hotel Advance with a friend and the accommodation was really above and beyond. This small central hotel had comfortable beds, a steam shower, and plenty of space for our suitcases. The hotel is close to the touristy area around Placa Catalunya but far enough that you don't feel like a typical tourist. Most of all it's quiet... More

My booking said Double Comfort room with air conditioning, "it has a balcony" and a double bed. We checked in around 2:30pm. We walked into room 504 which was very hot, had 3 single beds and no balcony. We decided not to complain but to close the curtains, turn on the air conditioning and go have a look around the... 1. best location: metro universitat is near, 2 bus stations from catalunya , central but not touristic 2. breakfast good and fine: eggs, types of cheese and ham, coffee and tea, types of breads, fruits, cornflakes, honey/butter etc. no vegetables – just tomatoes (BTW, cup of hot water to your room costs 3 euro) 3. outside the hotel: supermarket open... Booked a room though Very Chic, upon our arrival we are being told that due to a mistake there is no room for us and we have to go to another hotel of the group 2kms away and further away from city center. I insisted in vain to speak to the management and decided to refuse to leave the hotel... More

This hotel is extremely clean and modern, extremely well-kept. The only down-side is it was far and not close walking distance to the main city center, but but it's close to Plaza Catalunya, which is the beginning of Las Ramblas, the biggest street in Barcelona.

We stayed here for 5 nights in July, Summer in Europe. The hotel is clean and modern. The rooms aren't huge but when your in Barcelona you won't be spending much time at the hotel as there is so much to see. The hotel offers breakfast every morning with some variety. However if you are not a big fan of... More

A very good hotel close to plaza Catalunya, one of the most important squares as it is the begining of Las Ramblas. Nevertheless the area is quite quiet, very important when one stays there at the fiesta of San Jordy / San Juan, when there are lots of fire crackers in different parts of the city, but not in the... A good hotel convenient to Barcelona centre, nice contemporary decor and mostly friendly and helpful staff. A problem was resolved with minimal fuss, comfy rooms, not huge but big enough for a 5 night stay. Lots of bars and restaurant and shops all very close.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
