After difficulties getting into the apartment all went well. Receptionist and staff were helpful. Be warned that standard appt only has 1 bed though 2 had been requested. Good location for getting around the city. Was dubious due to other review re the area and women. Myself and daughter loved it and sat in the square late at night having... More

I was really impressed with this hotel. I went with my girlfriend on a city break for two night and it fulfilled our expectations nicely. It is a simple, no frills hotel, offering the basics very well. It was clean and spacious for two people (we stayed in the executive studio). Then we had a pleasant, friendly receptionist (Nicolette), she... More

The apartment was okay for a weekend. If our trip was longer it was to small. It could be cleaner and the free WIFI was not available. We could hear the neighboors above very well. The neighboorhood of the Apartment was great. Nice square in front of the apartment with a bar and small restaurants.

Not a good start to arriving at the hotel when you're greeted by what must be the most unhelpful guy in Barcelona - he was not interested in assisting us ! Finally found the hotel which was about a 20 min walk from Placa Catalunya (except we went the wrong way so it took us longer). Checked in and then... More

Pleasant location in the old town. Flat large enough, clean, and well enough equipped. Cafes and other premises in the street. Lots of food shops and two markets nearby. For friendly and economical off licence recommend the Golden Supermarket (left out of the door, left at the corner, 150m on the right). Apartment staff friendly and helpful. Snags - inconvenient... Arrived mid morning on Saturday and met by Niclette, very compact room, that's the polite way of saying it is small, but we did not expect a huge apartment. Clean but in need or some repair and renovation, the kitchen cupboards need some love, bathroom could do with re-grouting, bed very clean and serviced every day (took away any rubbish... More

Very diificult to find, tucked away in a placa even the taxi found it hard to locate. Advice is not to take a car as there is no parking nearby and manoevering a taxi there was a commendable achievement. The entrance is cool and manned during the day, however late evening and weekends reception is reached via the phone to... More

Exactly in the Old Town, first night we could not sleep because of a Party next door till 5 o'clock, but we talked to the reception and the next nights there was no problem any more. It is a very good value, but the kitchen could have a better equipment (no glas, no bottle opener). Towels are renewed only once... More

I will begin by saying that the apartment location is absolutely, without a doubt Not Safe for women. The hotel is situated in a 'calle peatonal' which means that it's like a courtyard/alley with bars and apartments around its perimeter, and cars are not permitted in. This basically eliminates any police patrolling in this area. There were three of us... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
