Just had a wonderful 2 night stay at this hotel. We had an upgrade on arrival which was a lovely surprise and the staff could not do enough for us. We ate in the restaurant once for breakfast which was a very fine spread with everything you could want (including a cheeky glass of Cava!). The spa, although small, was... More

We loved our stay! The hotel is very nice...the staff is outstanding. The hotel is perfectly located. You can walk to everything.....la Rambla, Gothic center, many restaurants and historic places. We would definitely stay here again!

Having planned my trip to Barcelona for a long time, I researched the hotels and locations thoroughly and it was worth it. My only regret is that I didn't stay long enough to enjoy all the facilities properly. We requested a side/back room due to the noisy location of the hotel and we were given room 228 which was beautifully... More

although the hotel is located dead in the center, the quality is definitely lacking. There were a handful of situations which made me feel uncomfortable and disappointed and as a result I wouldn't come back here. Firstly, in the middle of our stay they asked me to pay the three days which we've already stayed. When asked why I couldn't pay... More

This was a fab hotel in a great location. Loved the ambience and decor. Our room was a corner room on the 3rd floor which overlooked an interior courtyard. Whilst the hotel had advised they might not be able to meet our special requests of a quiet room with a kingsize bed (rather than 2 twins pushed together as they... More

It rained almost all 4 days we were in Barcelona. The staff at the hotel gave us umbrellas and suggested fabulous restaurants and sites to see. Our room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. I rise early and one of the housekeepers opened the gym for me at 5:30 in the morning. We would definitely stay at the Hotel 1898... More

We stayed at Hotel 1898 for 5 nights and can not say enough positive statements about the hotel and the staff. We arrived early from an international flight and they accommodated us with a room immediately. We had a problem with our room the first night and when we identified the problem they quickly changed our room. This trip was... More

Great hotel. Stayed 6 nights. Hotel has great staff. Hotel is beautiful with great common spaces. Rooftop pool, bar & restaurant are a must do. Staff made good recommendations and was helpful with metro assistance. Behind the hotel are 3 different bar/restaurants for cocktails and tapas. Very happy with our stay.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
