We stayed in the hotel Barbara for a couple of nights during Easter. The room was big enough with two separate beds (not ideal for a couple), which were quite comfortable. Also the receptionists were friendly. The room was clean. Big advantage of this hotel: it's only 5 minutes from Barri Gotique and Rambla. The downsides: a window to the... More

Room was tidy and shower was fine. Closed distance to town with 5 min walking.elevetor is available and if you need wifi if free. Stuff very Polite although breakfast hostess didn't understand any English. A bit noisy at Night if your room is on the street side. There plenty Of shops around it as well as restaurants.although I think is... More

You get what you pay for. Great location and friendly staff..placed in the " red light district"? Only one offer during our stay and hardly a proposal. .no worries around that. Great hotel to a low price.

We wanted to go to Barcelona but I had to go on a budget. This was it. A budget hotel just metres away from where you want to be in Las Rambla. There is nowhere else at this price to be so centrally located so fair play for keeping the hotel on a budget basis. Overall its clean but very... More

You get what you pay for so won't be expecting anything great, I shouldn't think. Very basic rooms with little in them. Beds firm, no glamour. I imagine it can be noisy at times, quite thin walls as mentioned in a previous post. Shower and bathroom perfectly ok. Very dodgy area in red light district. Beware walking home along the... More

My wife and myself treated ourselves to a weeks holiday in Barcelona during April having bought return air tickets from Gatwick(UK) for £54.50 each in an 'Easyjet' sale. Having got a good deal on our flights,it was then up to me to find an inexpensive but good hotel in the city handy for all its sights and attractions. Upon checking... More

I must have been staying in a different hotel to previous reviewers or just had the worst room in the hotel! I was expecting a basic hostel type place but the room itself looked like a cell, no mattress covers on bed, blankets were rough and looked dirty and mattress itself had a huge dent in the middle...needless to say... Hotel Barbara is a no frills place to stay, but it is clean, well run and has helpful staff who have a good command of English and the desire to be helpful. It is located within a short walk of Las Ramblas, the main thoroughfare of Barcelona and also the main shopping areas . It is a short walk from... More

stayed here for the football just for a night, cheap accomodation but can't complain, tidy with a nice bathroom. Didn't get up for breakfast so can't comment. Daytime woman on reception is lovely and chatty. 4-5 minute walk from ramblas. Get it booked if you just want a simple clean room.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
