If you're staying for one or two nights and you want something central but cheap then this hotel is for you. Earplugs is recommended. Staff is friendly but I'm not sure room security is the best. They charged 4 euros extra per night for the safe in the room. I would recommend it if you have valuables in the room.... More

Pros: location near the heart of town, rate/price, staff friendly. Room basic but clean, comfortable and good shower. Cons: no extra perks not a good place for small children, at night the courtyard outside the hotel seem to have a criminal element present. I did fell safe in the hotel but the night time activity in the courtyard was loud... More

I went to Barcelona at the end of June for 4 nights with two of my best friends (three 21 year old girls) and chose Hotel Barbara because it seemed like it had a good location mainly, and we'd be able to get home from clubs easily. This was so true! The clubs we mainly went to were on La... More

If you are travelling to Barcelona and you are NOT willing to sleep and rest but want to SCREAM and go crazy all night in your hotel room than this is the place for you. It was like staying in a kindergarten, no rules, uneducated guests on every floor, because it doesn't matter if you are on the 3rd floor... More

best location, just 2minutes from metro Liceu at La Rambla, Market, McDonald, KFC, Carrefour all behind a corner. You can go about 20-30minutes by walk to Pl.Espanya to get cheap airport bus No.46 there. I got mad when the receptionist asked my 16years old son to sign some paper, all in spanish. I was going to sign it for him... More

We stayed in the hotel Barbara for a couple of nights during Easter. The room was big enough with two separate beds (not ideal for a couple), which were quite comfortable. Also the receptionists were friendly. The room was clean. Big advantage of this hotel: it's only 5 minutes from Barri Gotique and Rambla. The downsides: a window to the... More

Room was tidy and shower was fine. Closed distance to town with 5 min walking.elevetor is available and if you need wifi if free. Stuff very Polite although breakfast hostess didn't understand any English. A bit noisy at Night if your room is on the street side. There plenty Of shops around it as well as restaurants.although I think is... More

You get what you pay for. Great location and friendly staff..placed in the " red light district"? Only one offer during our stay and hardly a proposal. .no worries around that. Great hotel to a low price.

We wanted to go to Barcelona but I had to go on a budget. This was it. A budget hotel just metres away from where you want to be in Las Rambla. There is nowhere else at this price to be so centrally located so fair play for keeping the hotel on a budget basis. Overall its clean but very... More

You get what you pay for so won't be expecting anything great, I shouldn't think. Very basic rooms with little in them. Beds firm, no glamour. I imagine it can be noisy at times, quite thin walls as mentioned in a previous post. Shower and bathroom perfectly ok. Very dodgy area in red light district. Beware walking home along the... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
