A lovely hotel! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and modern, if a bit small. The room was cleaned well everyday and fresh towels were provided. The breakfast had a good range and tasted great. It was my boyfriends birthday whilst on holiday and the hotel treated us with champange!

Was greeted when arrived with either sparkling wine or orange juice which was nice. Staff very helpful and polite. Told us where the nicest restaurants are and give us a map of Barcelona. Hotel right outside a metro station which was very handy however the metro travels underneath the hotel which is quite noisey and can hear it in the... More

Our experience with the hotel was very pleasurable all the way. While arriving at 11am, we got our room straight away and a bubbly welcome with cold cava was waiting for us in the reception. The room was nice - we asked for one on the higher floors with a view and our wish was granted. The hotel location was... More

This was our second stay at this hotel, since then its been renovated. Its even nicer than last time. This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. The cathedral is just on the door step and you are in the heart of the gothic quarter. The service was fantastic and breakfast was good. The rooms are clean (if a... More

We stayed a couple of nights here before a cruise. Great first impression with the cool and open reception area with bar and wood panelling. Staff friendly and helpful, our room on the first floor was pretty quiet and had a corner balcony, very nice bathroom and decent beds. Rooftop bar and jacuzzi were great places to relax in the... Lovely hotel. Friendly staff and very helpful. Was on our honeymoon and received complementary champagne and chocolates in our room. Breakfast was really nice. Only thing was the safety of the windows. The windows opened fully and was only two plastic bars at the bottom of the window, one was loose. Not very safe. So be mindful if staying there... More

We stayed at the Montcada for three nights before taking a cruise. As others have stated the room was small, but it was also clean with a comfortable bed, which is all we needed. The staff is excellent - very helpful to people who don't speak the language and have never been to Barcelona. Can't say enough good things about... More

We reserved a delux room. Probably waste of money. The room was very small, barely place for two people and two suitcases. We asked if we got the right room, and the receptionist confirmed. The service was ok, no more, no less. The location is good, but in BCN you'll get very good location for better hotels to the same... More

Very impressed with this hotel from the word go. A welcome glass of sparkling wine on arrival was perfect after escaping the midday heat. On check in the reception staff were incredibly helpful, when mentioning the sights we wanted to see the reception staff were able to check availability and book us tickets online(we hadn't thought to do so) making... We loved our stay at the Montcada, it was perfectly positioned. The rooms were small but very comfortable and extremely clean. The staff were lovely and always available to help. You are situated right in the gothic quarter with a 10 min walk from the beach, la rambles and the main high street. You had the scenic rooftop bar and... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
