I could not disagree more with the previous review. I have stayed many times at pensio 2000 and every time has been wonderful. Your hosts orlando and manuela could not be more attentive in helping you finding your feet around this magnificent city. It offers everything from roman times to modern day architecture. It has been described as " The... More

We are experienced travelers used to staying at economy accommodations. While the location was good and the facilities were fine, I do not think the owners have the temperament to to be in this business. They acted like they were doing us a favor letting us stay there. I am in my 60's and I have never had anyone go... More

Orlando and Manuela are awesome! The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom, A/C and a balcony overlooking an amazing concert hall. We are from New York so having Orlando give us tips where to go and what to do in English was a great bonus! When we go back to the beautiful city of Barcelona, we will... More

We wanted somewhere close to everything but not the normal antiseptic hotel. Found this B&B in the rough guide and also on Trip Advisor so took the plunge and emailed them. Had a quick response from Orlando (the owner) and booked. The B&B is in a lovely old building on a side road off one of the main roads in... More

Very friendly, family run pensio that is something like the equivalent of UK guest house accommodation. Incredible location in the middle of Barcelona! Our room was quiet and had access to the terrace where we ate our breakfast. Breakfast was lovely, and very cheap at 5 EUR with lots of options that are booked in advance. The place had a... More

This is a fantastic, well run, family hotel. The hosts Orlando and Manuela are very hospitable and helpful. There is a comfortable lounge and an outdoor courtyard. I was lucky to have a spacious room with a view of the Palau de la Musica Catalana - an extraordinary building to see up close. The hotel is well located off a... More

Excellent location for exploring all the Barrio Gotico (or old neighborhood) of winding little streets and so many sights. Near metro stations. Clean, safe, cozy. The owner was especially helpful in many ways. He helped us buy our Sagrada Familia tickets online which was a boon. Highly recommend this if you can walk up 2 flights of stairs. Be sure... More

A good value location ideal for exploring the old city and getting to the many sites around Barcelona. You can walk almost anywhere from here. Facilities are unique, clean, inviting & comfortable. Located steps from Palau de la musica, restaurants, transit and shops. Owners are friendly and very helpful but do not stay on site late evenings or overnight. Breakfast... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
