Spent a week in Barcelona and stayed at this hostal. The hostal is hard to find without any sign boards, I was kind of disappointed at first when I found out the hostal is situated on the first floor of an old (perhaps50s) building. You have to climb 10 steps of stairs before access to the very old style elevator... More

We wanted to be as central as possible on a small budget and the Hostal Goya ticked both boxes! It's hard to be more central and, for Barcelona, the price was reasonable. The staff are the stars of this establishment - kind, helpful, warm and friendly - and there was a comfortable lounge where we could relax and picnic of... More

My room was comfortable, but spare. This is definitely a budget hotel. The shower was difficult to get in and out of, and I am not large. The hotel was hard to find as there is only a small sign near the door of what looks like, and may be, an apartment building. The location is excellent however, Just a... More

I spent a couple of nights at Hostal Goya during my recent trip to Barcelona. The hotel is centrally located, just round the corner from a metro station and about 1km (10 – 15 min walk) from the Plaça de Catalunya, the drop-off and pick-up point of the airport busses. From the outside, Hostal Goya looks like an old apartment... More

We were a little leery of this hotel that our traveling companions selected since it seemed a little more like a hostel than a hotel. But, it was a pleasant surprise. It was the most affordable hotel we stayed in for the entire month we were in Europe. Its location is convenient to subways and buses, and there are enough... More

Perfect central location, easy walk to sights, shops & restaurants. The room (&bathroom) was clean & bright with comfortable beds & plenty of stotage. The only downside was that we overlooked the road which was very noisy particularly on the Saturday night.

My partner and I spent a lovely week in Barcelona thanks to this exquisite, inexpensive and very hospitable hotel as our "base". The owners and staff are absolutely charming and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day (beds made, showers cleaned, etc.). Despite the location in the centre of the city we slept extremely well at nights throughout... More

Dear Gert, I want to personally thank you for your excellent comments about our hotel. My husband and I travelled to Barcelona in Aug 2012. We had almost a week stay there. The location of the hostel is perfect, easy access to everywhere, say, La Rambla, Museums, Shopping area, metro station. There is a starbucks coffee and another local fast food chain down the building. Reception is very friendly, and helpful, She gave us all... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
