If you're looking for a budget hostel that is clean and comfortable, this is it. You can pay for a bathroom in the room or not; the communal bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen. I was surprised to get new towels and soap and shampoo, all the provisions of a hotel, every day. Oliva, the owner, speaks some... More

Dear Diana, Since 1931, Hostal Oliva has worked hard to offer to our guests the best accommodation in Barcelona. Great location, nice and practical rooms and an excellent customer service are some of our assets that cannot be found elsewhere. We truly appreciate your opinion, and we will keep working to keep alive our spirit. Thank you so much for... More

Senora, the Owner, of Hostal Oliva, runs a tight ship. Located on the forth floor of a beautiful old building, this small establishment is clean, basic, a little old-fashioned, safe and exceptionally convenient. It is on a safe street that offers lots of great restaurants and interesting shops. The place grows on you with each passing day. It feels more... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your time and for sharing your experience. It has been a pleasure to be part of your first visit to Barcelona, and we hope you had a great experience with us. As you mentioned, it exists some confusions between the term Hostal and Hostel. Whereas Hostel is related to Youth Hostels (shared rooms), in Spain... More

Had a very pleasant time in Barcelona. I liked the room at Hostal Oliva very much. Very friendly staff! Very good cleaning service! Very good location: breakfast bars just down the hotel next door. Even for "non-walkers" a good place. Lots of places in short walking distance. Recommended Oliva already to friends, Next visit in Barcelona - next time in... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. We were greeted nicely and we did have a bit of a language barrier as my Spanish was no better than her English, but we made it through. The location was perfect with the Ramblas just a walk away. Many main large fashion designers were located on Passeig de Gracias. Many restaurants are within... More

Dear Guest, There is a set phrase in catalan that says "al pot petit hi ha la bona confitura", which means that the good jam is in the small pot. So probably this is one of our secrets. We put a lot of effort to every detail to offer the best experience to every customer. We feel blessed to know... More

Where do I begin? I traveled to Barcelona Jan 2014, stayed here for 2 nights and the location is simply fantastic. Situated in the heart of Passeig de Gracia, Hostal Oliva is just steps from Casa Batillo, the Metro, and a direct shuttle to and from the airport. As a solo female traveler I felt completely safe and cozy in... More

You could pay 3 or 4 times as much and you still wouldn't find a place that is quieter, cleaner or more convenient than the Hostal Oliva. Located on the best stretch of the Passeig de Gracia, it is within easy walking distance of many of the must-see sights and is well served by a number of Metro stations and... More

Stayed for 4 nights in a single room recently. Great value for a solo traveler in a very good location, central to everything. Proprietor indulged me by speaking Spanish even though her English was probably better than my Spanish. :) The only very minor complaint I have is that if guests are being loud in the room next to you... The Hostal Oliva has a great location next to the subway, shops, restaurants and various tourist attractions. The place is simple but very well maintained. The bathroom is totally refurbished. The building is beautiful. The attendance is great and the owners are very kindly and friendly. Recommend!

Was not sure what to expect so was very surprised. I walked every where. Room was small but had a nice bathroom. The neighborhood was great. The bus from the airport is only 3 blocks away ad 10 euro return metro nearby as well.
