The hostel was very nice, just what I needed as a place to sleep. The only negative would be the walls aren't very thick so you can hear people coming and going. The communal bathroom was kept clean and tidy. The staff were really lovely and helpful especially when I arrived to check in late at night.

The only inconvenience is noise coming from the street, even at night time, take some earplugs with you! Otherwise very convenient location, opposite Estacio de Franca, cosy interiors and clean room. Friendly staff.

Location great. Near metro, opposite Estacio de Franca, close to park and gardens. Ideal for bars and restaurants. Ok, up 3 flights of stairs but if fit enough, not a problem. Staff good, rooms kept clean, always hot water. Free wifi. Coffee, water, soft drinks available 24 hours. Next time in Barcelona, it will be the Hostal Orleans.

Very clean and well appointed. If you don't mind a few stairs, this is a perfect place to stay in Barcelona...perfect location! Just around the corner from El Born Cultural Centre, an easy walk to the beach or the Gothic Quarter, the neighbourhood is packed with great places to shop or eat.

As a hostal it is fine. Many stairs to overcome (3rd floor). Worth it if you get a good price. Staff is nice and it is clean. Location is great as you get to the tube fine as well as museum parts of town relative close.

Some of the staff spoke English and Spanish, another spoke only Spanish and French. The second staff member went out of his way to take me to a map and answer my question about how to get where we wanted to go. We were very impressed.

Lots of noise at night and in the morning, waking us up. Also our room want cleaned even though we were away for the times specified, which meant wet towels. The receptionist also smoked inside which stank out the whole place, but the room didn't smell. Also the showers went cold quickly

This is a great place to stay in Barcelona. It is near the edge of the old city center out of the noisy area but walk-able to everything. It is very clean and the staff is wonderful. We have stayed at the Orleans several times in the last few years and we have never had a bad experience. We will... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
