We stay in this hostel for four days. General everything was good. Hostel is based in the heart of barcelona, close to la ramblas, playa catalunya and metro station (Jemeu). We had a room with bathroom inside so was ok. Room and bathroom was clean but little bit used. Breakfast wasn't really good so we went after and eat outside. General hostel... More

Previous to Layetana, I had never stayed in a hostel before. I read reviews online about theft, noise, cleanliness and too my horror I discovered that my friend had booked us SIX nights there. It shocks me to say this, but it really is not that bad. We had 3 girls staying in a trio room, we requested a room... More

No cleaning for 3 nights, no towel change, no functioning internet and horrible pissed off staff. Interested in your money but no service whatsoever. Disgrace for BCN. Staff starts "breakfast" after 830. You feel not welcome. Toilets without light for 3 nights. How difficult is a bulb change? Very difficult here.

I stayed het last week for 3 nights. It's basic, but that's what you can expect for one of the cheapest places I could find in Barcelona. When you're in town to explore all day from 8AM-10PM you just need a bed and then it's a great place. Breakfast is served somewhat late (starts 8:30), and very, very basic. I... More

I wouldn't suggest this hostel to anyone! Walls are paper - you can hear everything from corridor, the busy street next to the building and neighbour rooms - imagine to sleep in that noise. The cherry on the top during out stay was that we were locked outside our room at midnight because the door handle was broken when leaving... More

Hot water doesnt last very long, old towels, nothing special. But if you are just looking for a place to sleep, yes! Close to metro, grocery stores, barri gothic, bike rentals, staff is very courteous. Its noisy if you open the balcony door but otherwise fine. Inside door lock could be replaced! Free wifi and breakfast.

We booked this hostel because of the central location and because of the price for a room with a separate bathroom was really a bargain. Wifi worked well for us (room 306) and having some basic breakfast was a nice bonus. The common areas are clean and renovated but the room itself is very outdated except the bathroom which has... Good location, located just behind the cathedral and walking distance to most attractions. The hostal was a little difficult to find at first as it is on the fourth floor of what looks like an apartment building with no real signage outside. So you just have to ring the buzzer and hope they let you in. We had a corner... More

I know you can't have the best if you don't have money to spend, so I didn't expect much out of this location. All summed up the price is directly related to what they give: the location is great, you are in the center of the center of Barcelona, right behind the cathedral, minutes from everywhere else, beach, medieval town,... lovely location and friendly staff. A couple of suggestion: there are new beds, so they can change the mattress too. The windows must be renew.... it seems the window is still open, but the square is not noisy.

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
