Stayed 3 nights in November 2014. Very nice hostel in a central location of Barcelona, just few minutes from Plaça de Catalunya. I love the charming classic furnishings. I's a very good value for the money.

I *loved* the Girona Central, clean, well run....and has tremendous character (take a look at the pics). My room was quiet, clean, well appointed. Great value. There are three metro stations within a 5 minute walk. The airport bus stops at Plaza Catalunya, maybe 7 minutes walk. Much of central Barcelona is walkable from the front door. The immediate neighborhood... More

Stayed 1 night in August 2014. Very basic accommodation, air conditioner worked well, hot shower was nice (though hot water heater located in room made loud, disturbing noises). Great location close to lots of main attractions like Plaza Catalunya but in a quieter neighborhood.

Entering the building where Hostal Girona is located is like walking into Dracula's castle: a big awesome stone atrium with huge stone staircases on either side and a tiny cage elevator at the end that takes you up to the floor where Hostal Girona is located behind giant wooden doors with beautiful ornamental detail. It was a great experience coming... More

Very nice hostel in a quiet but central location in Barcelona. I was able to walk to a lot of must-seen points in Barcelona. There are also 4 different Metro stations in 5 minutes to walk distance. Arc De Triomf is maybe the most known place next to the hotel. There are also a lot of little restaurants, bars, bakery... More

A great experience booking online for a foreign destination. Lorenzo communicated with me before my arrival and answered my questions promptly. This hostal is walking distance to the major places I wanted to visit as well as the Playa Catalunya and metro stations. A good breakfast cafe, restaurants and shops are close by. It is also a safe hostal for... More

Stayed here one night while in Barcelona. I kinda wish I stayed longer. The location is ideal as its close walk to major areas, and Catalunya Square. There is metro nearby and taxis are always flowing through the street outside. Area is quiet at night time. There is a great place for breakfast a patio to the left of the... More

No complaints about the price of this hotel and staying in an old Spanish building complete with ornate plaster ceilings, marble staircase and wrought iron cage lift made this location memorable. We had a room with bathroom facing the street. It was clean, comfortable and adequate for our sleeping needs. The location was excellent for sight seeing in Barcelona. If... More

I stayed at Hostal Girona for 5 nights in May. I booked the through the HostelWorld website for a "single private ensuite room". Then I emailed the hotel directly to confirm the reservation. Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
