This hotel is situated in a beautiful and very original house in the L'Eixample district of Barcelona. The area is rather quiet but a walking distance from all the important spots and not far from an underground station. The rooms are clean, and contrary to what I had read before on other reviews there were no bed bugs! So much... more

Before I launch into the bad and why you should not stay here, let me say that the owners are delightful and helpful people and they leave you with a set of keys so you do not have to bother buzzing and can come and go at your leisure. That's the only positive thing I have to say about this... more

This hotel is wonderful. I would recommend it to everyone. The price was great and the inside of the hotel is beautifully decorated. The location is fantastic (walking distance to La Rambla). The rooms are a bit small and the toilets are down the hall, but we had a shower and sink in our room. more

I stayed here for two nights. The first night I had a room that smelled musty and I woke up scratching because I was getting eaten by bugs. I have never slept in a bed with bed bugs before.. but I had these red itchy spots on my legs and bottom. When I got home my boyfriend said they were... more

Very nice building, the owners rent out the second floor of a commercial/residential building so there are always people coming in and out. The owners were very polite, however were not exceptionally special or anything. When we asked them for help regarding laundry they were not that helpful (MAKE SURE YOU do your laundry BEFORE Barcelona or save it do... more

This was a cozy hostal with interesting furnishings and character. It was a bit of a walk from the Placa de Catalunya, but after I managed to find the place, its surroundings grew on me. There are many outlet stores in the area, and a lovely bakery around the corner that old local ladies patronised every morning. I had an... more

The hostel is an absolutely beautiful place, in a great location in central Barcelona. Big, chunky stone staircase, high ceilings, stunning tiled floor - I couldn't fault the fabric of the building. The twin room was great, spacious with a balcony over looking the street, a TV (spanish only though), sink and shower. The shared bathroom was modern and clean.... more

I went there in summer 2007 with my parents and sister. Hostal Girona is a family run hostel and the staff very extremely friendly to us and it's not like people what people said about them, I didn't find them grumpy or rude(but I guess because speaking Spanish does helps, because we do speak Castellano (official language in Spain) but... more

Have just come back from a long weekend in Barcelona and stayed at the Hostal Girona as it was cheap and had character. We had a rear room with balcony which looked over the terraces of the other houses on the block. It was quiet with no road noise. The room was basic but clean. The shower was tiny (any... more

This place is so full of character. High ceilings with ornate original plaster moulding. Wonderful terrazzo floor patterns. An original working caged elevator from the 19th century and amazingly preserved common areas. That said, you're lucky to get a large bed if not two beds pushed together, there are no toiletries in the bathroom, so bring soap and the shower... more
