I have stayed several times at the Hotel Monte Carlo and it is an excellent Hotel. Everyone that works there is great, they all speak English and are very helpful in all ways. They can tell you what is going on in their wonderful city, or where to eat etc. I would not think of staying anyplace else. The rooms... More

We stayed at the Montecarlo in Barcelona for 3 nights and it was certainly a pleasure. The location was perfect and Alfonso at the front reception made our stay most memorable. He went out of his way to answer every question and make great recommendations of "must see" places and things to do. Our room, 310 was on the 3rd... More

We especially appreciated being able walk to everything, the very helpful staff, and the rooftop terrace. And our room was very great too! It was on the Rambla side, but very quiet unless we wanted to be out on the balcony.

As a tourist, you want the easiest access to useful information to get the most from your trip. This hotel has a top-notch front desk staff that helped us plan our time in the city, recommended and booked out-of town trips for us and was extremely congenial. Whatever our questions, they had helpful and knowledgeable answers that exceeded the usual... More

A very nice hotel located in the center of city on La Rambla. Across the street is a huge market that is awesome and very busy! This is our first night here, it's been great so far. Only drawbacks are no coffee in rooms and not much of a bar. Haven't tried the restaurant yet.

Tripadvisor, you've done it again! There is so much to say, and it is all complimentary, about €25 from the airport and right in the middle of La Rambla you are taking a risk not staying here. We got a room at the back of the hotel which is important as La Rambla can be very busy and noisy almost... More

This was a repeat stay at Hotel Montecarlo, and it was every bit as wonderful as two years before. I traveled with a friend pre-cruise and we each booked VERY comfortable, super clean, quiet and well-appointed single rooms with amazingly comfortable beds. The location right on LaRambla, just a short walk from Placa Catalunya and around the corner from LaSeu... More

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Montecarlo. It is in a good central position, within striking distance of the major locations. This was our visit trip to Barcelona and we made heavy use of the city's nearby (Pl Catalunya) open top "hop on hop off " bus service. We found the Montecarlo to be an... More

Got the budget room and it was still amazing. A very short walk fron placa catalyuna which is a major hub where the aerobus dropped us off. Also a short walk to the sea and, gothic area and other areas. Rooftop had great views.

Nice, comfortable room, very very clean. Nice front desk staff. Excellent location on la rambla. No noise in our room on 2nd floor, but we didn't face street. Only complaint was Internet was very spotty. Otherwise, nice hotel.

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
