Hotel montecarlo is located high on the rambla, in close walking distance of the Catalunya square. As such, location is excellent. The room itself was rather small with a clear ikea feeling about it, but also very clean and comfortable. A minor negative point relates to the view out of the window which was pretty much non existing (the website... More

Right in the heart of La Ramblas. Great staff, very friendly and professional . I will stay there again. I had a large single and it was huge with fabulous bathroom. Only 5 minute walk to Areobus stop.

Having been to BCN before I had reservations when my friend's booked a hotel at the top of the Ramblas. Though the Ramblas is an ideal location it can be noisy and an atmosphere liken to a circus. I was very wrong, what a peaceful quiet hotel which is modernism on the outside but clean lines on the inside. It... More

This was our third yearly stay at this hotel and each time it has remained excellent. The rooms are spotless and adequate size, along with being nice and quiet. The staff speaks excellent English and is super friendly and helpful and honest. The location is close enough to the Aerobus to walk there easily, and the attractions in Barcelona are... More

Very good service, nice rooms, good adjustable beds, nice breakfast, excellent location, reasonable rates. Right on Las Ramblas and many attractions are close. Tripadvisor demands more descriptions. I said enough

Perfect location, comfortable rooms, roof top terrace and grand decor are undeniable selling points of this place. If I did want to point to any negatives, that would be an overpriced breakfast - otherwise highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo for 4 nights in May 2015. The room was absolutely wonderful: the beds were comfortable, the bathroom large, the room had a balcony over the Ramblas, everything was very clean and the room was extremely quiet. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The location was perfect and within walking distance... More

We stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo for 3 nights in May 2015. The hotel is right on La Rambla, and within walking distance of the Gothic area and Placa Catalunya where a lot of the bus tours depart from. We booked a "big standard twin with natural light". Our room overlooked a courtyard and was very quiet. Bathroom was clean... More

We booked a room with natural light and received a nice, bright corner room in the back of the hotel with lots of windows. To assure a good night's sleep, the windows were sound-proofed and had automated black-out shades. The room was a nice size for a city hotel, had a good bed (that could be raised for sitting up),... we only had breakfast here once. It was good but we enjoyed getting out to one of the many local restaurants for cappuccino. clean spacious room and friendly staff. 2 blocks from the bouda bar - one of the best bars I've visited in the world. Very small. could only sample a few of the over 400 gin and tonics... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
