My daughter and I traveled to Barcelona celebrating her 18th and my 50th birthday. We could not have been more pleased with Hotel Montecarlo. It is located right on La Rambla. We were able to walk to many beautiful locations including PL. Catalunya which is a transportation hub. You can catch the bus to the airport, tour buses, and public... More

There wasn't a thing I had a problem with at this hotel. Right on La Rambla, across from Le Meridien (if you're familiar with the area), the location is perfect for walking, metroing or bussing everywhere. While the location is great, most impressive to me is the staff, who was friendly and incredibly helpful from the very start, making us... More

The Montecarlo Hotel is in a great position on Las Ramblas. Friendly helpful staff who are a credit to Montecarlo. Lovely room with added bonus of a spa bath. Complimentary dressing gown and slippers included. Good priced breakfast buffet. Only reason for not given this place a five star rating is the bar and lounge lack any real atmosphere and... More

We stayed 2 nights this weekend. The staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Our room was great, beds and pillows were so comfy and the spa bath a great bonus. Add the robes and slippers you couldn't ask for more! Great for relaxing after a busy day admiring this beautiful city. Would definitely recommend

I would recommend everything about this lovely place except the location. It is located on the Rambla, which was once the fashionable street but now, though great for people-watching, is lined with t-shirt and souvenir shops and fast-food restaurants. The hotel staff is happy to recommend restaurants to its guests, but does not recommend any within 10 minutes walking distance... More

Central location, great staff, we enjoyed our stay! Pillows were a bit mushy for our liking, but not enough to complain. Check out the rooftop for a nice view as well. The noise level on Las Ramblas is astounding, but this hotel has 2 (yes two) double pane sliding windows back to back, so that is the secret to keeping... More

This hotel is in a great location just north off Las Rambla. Just a stones throw from all the shops and restaurants and half the cost of other hotels in this area. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Definitely good for a business trip or for family short stay. The hotel does... More

Perfect location on the Ramblas with a parking bay and underground parking for €26 a day. There is also the possibility of storing scooters etc just inside the hotel so that you don´t have to go down to the garage each time you want to go out. The rooms (our´s cost €114 per night) are modern and comfortable, but best... More

This boutique hotel (only 50 rooms) is located on La Rambla, walking distance to La Boqueria, Liceu, the Gothic Cathedral, the sea, and Plaza Catalunya. We asked for and got a room facing away from La Rambla, so quiet that you could have mistaken it for a country spa. Plush robes and slippers. Massage beds. Jacuzzi tub. Though breakfast was... More

We got this hotel because of a friends recommendation. We didn't even bother researching the reviews in tripadvisor which has been our habit. We were not disappointed. The location is unequalled. The hotel is a couple of blocks south of Placa de Catalunya which is where all of the taxis and buses stop. The aerobus from the airport stops here... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
