Just back today from 2 nights in this Hotel. We arrived very early (8.30am) and dropped our bags, they gave us the wifi code & maps for the city and told us our room would be ready at 3pm. There was so much to do to pass the time since we were there to see the city. The location is... More

This was our second stay at the Hotel Monte Carlo in Barcelona and we enjoyed it just as much the second time around. It is located in the heart of Las Ramblas, a wonderful location for visiting many areas of the city. You can easily walk many places (Gothic quarter, La Mercado Boqueria , Marina) and the metro station is... More

What a great find this hotel was. Situated at the top of the Ramblas and around a 30 minute walk down to Barcelonetta and the marina area. The room was perfect for us with a fab Jacuzzi bath and a very comfortable bed. The soundproofing is excellent as we looked out over the street and heard nothing. Breakfast was very... More

Quiet oasis on busy Las Ramblas Ave. Pleasant rooms, helpful and friendly staff. Generous breakfast. Don't miss the Boqueria market nearby. Go up to the solarium on top floor for good views of Barcelona.

Not a very large balcony but big enough for two to stand and watch the Barcelona world go by. This is a hotel that is very grand and ornate on the exterior, very plain and modern in the interior public spaces with rooms that are throughly modern. The rooms are big, including the bathrooms. The rooms come with robes and... More

The Hotel is on the busy La Rambla Street and very easy to get to from the airport bus drop off point. It has a very classic appearance from the outside which continues to the interior lobby and rooms. The staff are very friendly, all spoke excellent English and were very happy to help you in any way they could.... More

Had the great pleasure of staying at the Hotel Monte Carlo on Las Ramblas, Barcelona Spain, the last week of March 2015. The location on Las Ramblas Boulevard was amazing; you could spend hours exploring the shops, La Boqueria food market, easy walk to the Gothic area, and close to major taxi stands. The hotel staff was one of the... More

For those who don’t know, La Rambla is a broad roadway, with a very busy centre pedestrian walk, running between Plaça de Catalunya and Port Vell. Busy? I figure if you wait long enough you’ll see everyone you know walking down La Rambla. The Montecarlo is right on La Rambla, 300 metres down from the Plaça, the very epicentre of... More

Great location, directly in the heart of the city. Hotel is a revamped old palace, with still some charme visible (high ceilings, generally nice athmosphere). However the rooms are no thrills (basic furniture, no art, simple and straightforward, yet spacious). So not really a "boutique hotel". Anyway, it is a good place to stay, but you probably pay for the... More

Hotel is in the centre of the city, within walking distance of many beautiful buildings and only a short walk from the underground, should you need to travel further. The room was very clean, comfortable and noise free. The staff were, without exception, wonderful. Breakfast was excellent. Complimentary coffee and soft drinks in a very comfortable bar area. The hotel is... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
