Staff was very rude and shameful. We travelled as a group of 3 frnds with 1 of us staying in another hotel nearby. When this frnd came to see us (during the day), the ill-mannered receptionist refused to allow him to our room quoting some unsaid, unwritten rule which does not allow visitors to the room. When I told him... More

In the Barri Gotic area of Barcelona, between 2 plazas (Placa del Pi and ?), is a triangular-shaped building in which el Jardi is located 20+ stairs above street-level. The elevator is small, 2-3 average-sized people max. And the bath could use a hand-held shower head (hint, hint to the owners). But did I mention that the location is great?... More

Location is brilliant, within Barrio Gotico. Its located on 2 sqaures with bars and restaurants. La Ramblas is a short walk and the Liceu metro, so you can easily travel around Barcelona. We arrived in the airport amd use the train to get to the hotel, change at Passeig de Gràcia, then underground to Liceu. If you get a T10... More

Room was very basic, but the location was great. Located in the gothic quarter with many bars and restaurants close by to choose from. Also close to a metro station and where the airport bus drops you off. Perfect for what we needed as we didn't plan on spending much time in the hotel.

Basic rooms, small bathrooms, remarkable location if you want convenience to the Metro and a short 10-minute walk up Las Ramblas to the Airport Bus. Two quaint squares as neighbors and several excellent tapas options with outdoor seating and a wonderful gelato shop (open until 1 a.m.) steps away, this hotel is an absolutely perfect location to enjoy Barcelona's old... I traveled with a friend and stayed at El Jardi. The location was awesome. The room was small and basic, but we basically only used it to sleep, since we were out most of the day. I highly recommend this place. The location was incredible. Fortunately, we did not have to deal with any type of customer service issues, so... More

Got train to Barcelona Sands from Salou and then the metro to Liceu which was 2 minutes walk from hotel. Everything was really easy start to finish. Hotel has 2 lovely courtyards outside where you can eat and drink and watch the world go by. Las Ramblas is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel and all shops bars... More

If you want to experience the heart of the old quarter this hotel has rooms with small balconies that overlook two of the nicest small squares. It is great value and includes breakfast. Only weaknesses are the beds are divan type typically of cheaper hotels although they were OK. There is no lift to the reception on first floor so... More

An excellent location deep in the Gothic quarter close to shops, restaurants and cafes. Rooms are bright, clean and furnished well if simply. Plenty of wardrobe space and a bathroom with a good shower. We had a top floor room with a balcony, which was well worth the slightly extra cost for the ability to look out across the rooftops... Haven't even checked out yet but wanted to make sure I wrote a review for El Jardi. My stay here has been fantastic. You can't beat the location, short walk to las Ramblas and the Liceu Metro station. Gothic quarter right next door. Yes the rooms are small....but this is Europe and I didn't spend a lot of time in... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
