If you want to experience the heart of the old quarter this hotel has rooms with small balconies that overlook two of the nicest small squares. It is great value and includes breakfast. Only weaknesses are the beds are divan type typically of cheaper hotels although they were OK. There is no lift to the reception on first floor so... More

An excellent location deep in the Gothic quarter close to shops, restaurants and cafes. Rooms are bright, clean and furnished well if simply. Plenty of wardrobe space and a bathroom with a good shower. We had a top floor room with a balcony, which was well worth the slightly extra cost for the ability to look out across the rooftops... Haven't even checked out yet but wanted to make sure I wrote a review for El Jardi. My stay here has been fantastic. You can't beat the location, short walk to las Ramblas and the Liceu Metro station. Gothic quarter right next door. Yes the rooms are small....but this is Europe and I didn't spend a lot of time in... More

My sister and I stayed at El Jardi in May 2015. Being about 3 minutes walk from La Rambla the location is excellent. We chose one of the larger rooms which is still small but with two balconies overlooking different squares, so really good for watching the street entertainers outside the cafes. The balconies are just large enough for two... More

We stayed at El Jardi for two days in June 2015. The small very clean room was well priced, staff were pleasant and the location, on a small square only a block off La Rambla, was in the centre of the main tourist area. The air conditioning in the room was most appreciated. Good value.

Pros: As everyone says, a great location. Room was clean, mattress was firm, bathroom had a bidet. We had a balcony overlooking a charming courtyard, with soundproof doors. Saved 10% for paying cash. Cons: Staff varied from polite to sullen. They do no radiate friendliness, if that's what you're looking for. Breakfast was somewhat below average. I understand the problems... More

When searching for a room in Barcelona I was looking for price and location. The El Jardi fit this bill. We were in a car rental and it was extremely hard to find. We ended up parking in some underground parking nearby and lugging our bags through the streets. Overnight parking was $48. I had read reviews so I knew... More

This hotel is in a great location, its clean and adequate - basic, comfortable room. The location is the best feature as it is very central in the gothic quarter, close to old town and metro. Everything is within easy walk distance

Absolutely great location. 5 min walk to a subway stop, 20 mins walk to the beach, 15 mins walk to Picasso museum, shopping and food at your doorstep. Have a map handy as not all taxi drivers will go to the doorstep (too many pedestrians). Have the cab driver drop you off near Liceu station and it'll be a 3... More

we booked a double bed with balcony view, we were really surprised of the room size. Should have went with a deluxe room size as we barely fit in the room or bathroom. But I guess all European rooms are that size. We did check out and head towards a bigger hotel room Great location , right in the middle... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
