1 minute off Las Ramblas near Liceu metro on Hospital & less than 10 mins from the sea or Plaza Catalunya in the other direction (where the airport bus drops you). And very close to gothic quarter too. Staff very friendly & helpful especially Javi who was great for restaurant recommendations. Rooms perfectly adequate & great value and breakfast was... More

Booked as a package with flights, the hotel cost us about 50 Euros a night, with tea and coffee facilities and breakfast. It is located next to La Rambla and is in a great position for restaurants and walking around. The rooms are basic, we had no windows. We only used it for sleeping as we were out all day... More

Hotel Moderno Barcelona has excellent location, 10 meters from middle of Las Ramblas and as such is excellent starting point for exploration of Barcelona. Unfortunately, except really nice and friendly receptionists and correct breakfast, they have failed our expectations in basically every aspect. Our room (P2) felt like empty warehouse (big & empty), linen was less than basic, blankets were... More

This was a lovely hotel to stay in the heart of Barcelona. Walking distance to most of the main tourist sights and had the metro and buses only a short stroll from the front door. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is fully self service with both hot and cold selection. Rooms are very compact but... More

Stayed for 1 night coming back after earlier staying across the road at another hotel which was more expensive (rivoli). This one is cheaper and still in a fantastic spot. The staff at both are great. Main short fall here is the quality of the rooms. To be completely honest, mine smelt really foul. Mouldy. I think I was just... More

Plus point is the location which is just in the Rambla Area. Close to everything. Room is basic, Tv with limited channels, but who would watch TV when you must be out and exploring the city ? :) Breakfast selection, just enough. Reception and breakfast staff is fantastic and helpful. Value for money. Will go back again

The hotel is just off la rambla, close to the metro so absolutely ideal, staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better that expected although fairly basic but help yourself to as much as you like. The rooms are small but for the little time we spent in them, this wasn't a problem. Limited tv in English but free... More

My wife and I stayed there for five days before heading off on our Mediterranean cruise.. My daughter and family rented an apartment around the corner by the Market place.. The whole hotel staff ( the greatest) allowed my family to join us for a great breakfast at a nominal fee... Changed $500.00 euro bills since that's all our Trinidad... More

This hotel is in the best location possible, just off Las Ramblas but not noisy. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful and were always very knowledgeable. The only thing to let this hotel down slightly are the breakfast arrangements. The food itself was OK, not fantastic but acceptable for a hotel buffet. The problem was the seating. It... More

When we arrived our room wasn't ready but we were able to leave our bags in the luggage room, we needed to print something off the computer and the lady & gentleman on reception were lovely and extremely helpful. When we checked in the room was clean and great for a short stay, unfortunately only one English tv channel but... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
