Hotel inside is shabby. Furniture fabrics - very faded. Bathroom is tooold-needs refurbishment. Train some staff especially in the dining area how to deliver good service and not to lecture guest to help themselves and to offer guests choices in serving guest bread from the basket and if butter is required and not say butter is finished for the day.

We visit Barcelona regularly and always choose the Tryp Barcelona Apolo. At first it was mainly for the excellent location but there is so much more to this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and always spotlessly clean (check under the bed, you won't be disappointed) and have everything you need. Daily cleaning is done thoroughly to a high standard,... I stayed here for a week last summer and this hotel was perfect! It was easy to find, 20 minute drive from the airport, the hotel is so central, 5-10 walk from las ramblas, 5 minute walk to the harbour! the metro is right outside the hotel which i found the easiest, cheapest & quickest way to get around the... Great hotel. Right by metro station. Perfect to explore from, not much around very locally but only 10 min walk to la rambla. Close to Maremagnum and the marina. Nice room, good 4 star hotel. lovely hotel reception, and fantastic breakfast buffet. A lovely stay, at a lovely hotel, great location to explore the city.

Pros: 1. This hotel enjoys good location right next to the metro station. 2. It does provide quite a comprehensive buffet breakfast by European standard. 3. The concierge staff put on a perpetual grin, but still I had a few bad experiences. Cons: 1. By the washbasin you will find shoe polish pack but not the more essential cotton pad... More

Visited with my wife for 4 nights as a half term relaxing break. Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Had asked in advance for a double room but in the event settled for a twin as a larger option than the double on offer. Room on 6th floor had all we needed. Street noise was an issue but to be expected... More

Unfortunately, after reading a previous review that said tea making facilities were provided in standard rooms we left our travel kettle at home! We're writing this review from the hotel who inform us that these facilities are only available in premium rooms and they will charge us 9 euros per day to provide one for us! Because of this I'm... I booked this hotel without even researching it and it was decent although not special. But then again I didn't look for something special! The 4 star is a bit of a stretch. It is a bit dated but everything worked perfectly, the room was big, the staff friendly and its proximity to a Paral lel station is its biggest... More

Staying in Montjuic

Neighborhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colorful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
