Hotel in great location 10 mins from las ramblas and metro right outside. Rooftop pool a nice addition albeit a little small, but wouldn't expect anything else. Nice rooftop bar. Rooms nice and large, but two downsides - no mirror in bedroom area - so go prepared and no tea coffee making in rooms which us Brits like!!! Other than... More

To celebrate my 50th & a friends 40th birthday we came to Barcelona. We couldn`t of chosen a better hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful, informative and patient! Location excellent, easy walks to Las Ramblas, the seafront etc. Metro and buses outside if not walkable. Chilling with a drink and a dip in roof terrace pool after sight-seeing addictive. Would be back next... More

Hotel was fab as was Barcelona. Pool was small but oh so good after a long day sight seeing. Rooms were nice and big and very clean. Good location with buses, or trains near by or you can walk as not too far from things.

Hotel has great location with Parallel tube just outside. Front desk staff were really helpful, rooms were big enough, beds were comfortable and well made up daily, breakfast was good although coffee tasted as though it had been prepared hours earlier. There is a small bar area on the ground floor and a small pool on the roof with an... More

Good three/four star hotel. Location is great, nearby metrostation and walking distance to Ramblas. Staff was helpful and overall hotel is very clean. The poolarea is great and clean. Good place just chill, if you are tired to go somewhere. Breakfast was nothing special, good basic stuff. Do something with that coffee, it was awful. Absolutely worth to test!

Stayed for 4 days in June and cannot fault any part of it. Lovely helpful staff from reception, security, kitchen and cleaning staff. The hotel is modern with a slick operation - everything like clockwork. Comfy beds, good wifi. I'd asked for a quiet room and got 401 with an internal window but suited us. The breakfast was immense and... More

Stayed in this hotel for 7 nights and was thoroughly impressed with the service and standards of the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, offering advice on both where to go and how to get to places. The hotel was in the perfect location with las Ramblas in close walking distance and easy access to the transport systems. The rooms... More

We much enjoyed a three night stay in the Universal with three children (11, 10, 7). The hotel is located on the Avenida Paral.lel, a busy thoroughfare at the W edge of the multi-cultural El Raval district, close to the once-notorious but now relatively sedate ‘Chinatown’ (note that there are still some ‘edgy’ streets in the general area). There are... More

This hotel is kind of out of the way but the metro is literally right outside the hotel so getting to all the attractions was easy. The room was small but it was functional and very clean. The breakfast is extensive with lots of tasty choices. The best was of this hotel was the price - extremely reasonable. The staff... More

This was the last leg of our trip through Portugal and Spain so my review is partly based on where we had been before this stay. Unfortunately, we were given a room on the 3rd floor facing the street and it was quite noisy in the morning. We had to wait until after 3pm to get it and we were... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
