A ok hotel with excellent location for shopping and eating in Barcelona. The rooms were ok, clean and with ok standard. The breakfast was poor. The greeting was good and I think you get what you pay for at Hotel America.

The rooms are pleasantly furnished and very clean. The beds are standard european class, hard setting, but perfectly OK. There is a lot of noise coming from the staircase into the rooms. The doors to the rooms aren't isolated at all. When we stayed at the hotel there was a wedding shower and a lot of people partying, which of... More

The best thing with this hotel is it's staff. Very nice and helpful. The first room I got had no wifi and one of the windows was broken and could not be properly closed. The second room had well functioning windows and wifi that worked at times. However I want to point out that the helpful lady fron the reception... More

The hotel is well situated and is walking distance to many of the first rated attractions, including Gaudi's Masterpiece Cathedral (Sagrada Familia) and his famous apartment building (Casa Batllo) and also not to be missed is Palau De La Musica Catalana with its famous "Dome", and do attend a musical performance there if possible. It's worth the effort. The hotel... More

I spent on night at this hotel which could be easily reached by public transport. I felt immediately comfortable in the room since there is no carpet but a wooden floor. Ideal to discover the city by walking. Excellent breakfast buffet with friendly staff. Although the room was facing the street my sleep was not bothered by the noise.

Stayed at the American for a weekend and found it to be nice clean and was in a place that was easy to get around the town. A few broken tiles here and there but all in all everything was as it should be. Bad point is the heating in our room was a bit noisy and the noise outside... More

This smart hotel is perfectly located for the Eixample District and historical sites at the top end of the Rambla de Catalunya. My wife and I have stayed twice on a couples basis. It is generally smart and stylish. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The room was not terribly spacious, but very clean and well-equipped. Breakfast service was... More

We stayed at Hotel America in a superior room for several nights in November. First of all, the location is excellent. The hotel is close to lots of great restaurants, as well as some famed Gaudi buildings, and the area feels very safe at night. Passeig de Gracia is an exceptional shopping area with restaurants, and it's only a few... More

The staff was very warm and welcoming on our arrival and helped us check in a bit early. They also provided great restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. The area is within walking distance to all the tourist sites, but a bit removed so you feel like you're in a "real" neighborhood. It's close to shopping and some Gaudi sites. The... More

The superior room was very clean and beautiful, no issues at all in that department. The wifi was an absolute joke though. It seriously disconnected every other minute and became very frustrating as we wanted contact our families on the first day of our honeymoon. I will say though, the front desk was incredibly nice and helped show us how... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
