We were given a quite large air conditioned room with a sofa as well. A well lit room. Good bathroom. The hotel is a little out of the way but not too far from the usual tourist sites, etc. The reception staff were very helpful. Only disappointment was the breakfast as it the food was often cold. Free WiFi in... More

We had a spacious room in the back of the hotel, so it was quiet. Location was great for walking around Barcelona or going to a Metro Station. Decor was dated, however everything else about this place was fine for the price we paid.

Caledonian was a nice hotel located close to the Universitat area (and Metro) and a short walk away from Placa de Catalunya and La Rambla. The area is well-lit, populated, and as a solo female traveler I always felt safe. Room was small but comfortable and very clean, and there is a balcony and free wi-fi. Staff was friendly and... We stayed at the Caledonian for 4 nights 5 days. The room was clean not big but adequate. My only quibble was the bad lighting. The breakfast was lovely but would have been better with brown and other breads not just white. Close to las ramblas and the metro. 1 tip, when buy a metro card get a T10 and... More

Walk to most attractions-las Ramblas,Placa de Cataluña(to catch tourist buses),shops and world class shopping.Right on main road ,but double glazed windows dulled the traffic noise.Good sized, clean, comfortable rooms.Helpful staff and good breakfast selection.

Went for 5 nights with a friend. The charges began upon arrival for things like getting garments ironed (€5 for a trouser etc.) I was not impressed as the cost of the room was already dear without breakfast! It was clean yet any requests made to reception HAD to be done face to face. I feel for those people who... More

No problems here except for no tea/coffee facilities. However, there's a small supermarket very close that sells good coffee, fresh bread/baguettes, toasties, croissants etc, and it's open 24 hours a day. The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again ☺

We stayed here for two nights recently. *Reception and staff was friendly, helpful and clean. *Room (#105) was spacious, clean and had good facilities. There was a tv, but it only had spanish channels, but who watches tv when they've got Barcelona to explore anyway!! Our room had a cute little patio area opening out on to a square of... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
