We (three girls in our mid-twenties) stayed at Chic and Basic in January of 2015. We were on a four day stay and it was very affordable, clean, and in a great location. We stayed in a three bed room and it worked out perfectly for what we were looking for. I would definitely come back here.

I went on a girly trip to Barcelona for my friend's 40th and we stayed at Chic & Basic for 2 nights. The reception area was very retro and quite nice, but the rooms were cramped and very "basic". The beds were tiny and not particularly comfortable. The bathroom was okay but there was no natural light in ours so... More

Stayed for 2 nights. Warm welcome, helpful & attentive staff. Comfortable well appointed room. Breakfast was good value & plentiful. The hotel is great, clean, quirky & an excellent base for exploring the city - just minutes walk from Las Ramblas & the Harbour area. Will definitely chose to stay here again given the opportunity to return to Barcelona

Stayed here for one night on route to cruise port.Room for 3 people was very clean and comfortable with a lovely shower room. Breakfast was extra but good value for money. Good location and fairly central to tourist areas. Hotel foyer very unusual and stylish. Hotel staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again and recommend for both couples and... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Chic & Basic this Summer during our first ever visit to Barcelona. As it was our first visit to the City we spent a lot of time on Google searching for the best places to stay, when we came along this little gem. Positives + Really clean room + Stylish & Quirky Interior +... More

funky hotel, just off las ramblas,we had room with small balcony, staff very helpful, toilet and shower a little small but adequate, overall good hotel with some quirky design like the seat 500 car in reception, the front desk made of old suitcases, the room doors with pictures of different decades of fashion.

Had a lovely weekend break staying here. Hotel staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful! The hotel is in the center of things with lots to do! Breakfast was extra- buffet type. We popped to the wild rover pub two minutes away for €9 full Irish. Overall for the price I cannot speak highly enough of the cleanliness and the comfort... More

We stayed for 4 nights , the hotel staff were friendly and so helpful ,we would recommend for location as only two minute walk from ramblas which was perfect for restraunts and night life, the breakfast was poor value and we would recommend going elsewhere unless the toaster was now working !!

Mother originally booked 2 rooms at their sister hotel in Barcelona but after electrical fault they upgraded us to superior rooms with balconies in this hotel - and it was a real treat! Fiat 500 in the lobby - reception desk made of old trunks and well designed and comfortable - providing both style and substance - bedrooms. Super helpful... More

if you want a cheap and clean and stylish hotel, just in the middle of barcelona, you can stay at chic and basic ramblas. 1 minute to ramblas, 45 seconds to metro. All stuff members are very kind, helpfull and with a smiling face. and hotel has a very fast wifi connection.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
