A small hotel in the center of La Rambla. Excellent service, hotel clean and shiny. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, showers and toilets brilliant. A good hotel to sleep well. Breakfast is nothing - no cheese or eggs, but in Barcelona there are many places to eat well. So you should not judge the hotel Accordingly, because the dining room is... More

Quaint hotel, ideally placed for City centre, a minute from the rambles. Larger than average rooms for city centre, friendly staff, clean rooms, decent continental breakfast. Good price for above low budget accommodation. Defiantly would recommend for couples

Finding the hotel was the first hurdle, accessing it the second. The taxi driver eventually deposited me on a corner of La Rambla with instructions to walk about 200 yards. Fortunately further local assistance located the entry in a very narrow street. Reservation and check in were fine and the room, not large, but quite acceptable with a well presented... More

This small hotel is a short distance from the Ramblas, metro station, Marina waterfront, cathedral and is in the Gothic quarter so is an ideal place for tourists. We had a room on the top floor with windows to the interior space, so heard no noise from the street at any time. Breakfast served in the basement was continental and... More

Loved it here. Located down a small side street its was very quiet in the room despite being in the thick of it. Lovely little bar right opposite too - great cocktails. I'd definitely stay there again.

Enjoyed 4 nights at this hotel recently during third week of May. Excellent location just off the main La Rambla street in the Les Ramblas area. The hotel is modern having been refurbished in 2010 and has all the facilities required for a short city break. The breakfast facility is good offering many continental choices in a self service buffet.... More

At first glance, you might get the wrong impression of this hotel. Located on a small alleyway in the Gotic District, the hotel appears to be more suited to backpackers than world travelers. However, we found the California to be one of the most pleasant hotels we've stayed in Europe. First, the reception staff are most delightful and helpful. The... More

This quaint Hotel was perfect stay. The staff from the front desk clerk to the hotel maids to the dining staff were hospitable and efficient. Some of the huge hotel chains need to take lessons from the staff of this hotel. Comfortable, clean and quiet. Liked the fact that the front doors of the hotel are locked, and the front... More

First of all this Hotel has great employee's. They deserve a huge 10 for effort and helpfulness. They did understand English and helped me with my limited Spanish and had a few good laughs over different words and meanings. If you arrive by Taxi they do not pull up in front of the hotel as the entrance is in a... More

Great central location, near La Rambla and old district; clean and quiet hotel. Bed was comfortable and bathroom looked modern. Hotel had free WiFi and breakfast, which was decent. La Rambla area is where the touristy restaurants and small shops can be found. Hotel is not far from the open market which has some excellent deals in fresh food. Get... More

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
