Stayed here for 6 nights at the start of my honeymoon and the holiday got off to a great start with a room upgrade and a bottle of Cava to celebrate the occasion. The hotel is well placed just off Las Ramblas with many attractions within walking distance. The hotel has lots of charm however if you are looking for... More

We stayed at Hotel Espana for four nights in July and it was delightful. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, breakfast was just right for a boutique hotel and the room was lovely. We really enjoyed our nightly drinks at the Terrace Bar and also had a delicious meal at Restaurante Fonda Espana. Fantastic location just off Las... More

good location and a nice interior...but that's it! terrible small room (at least the standard rooms), the view in the 1st floor backside: a wall! in the night and very early in the morning: it is very loud. WiFi is very very slow. For this price you definitely will find better hotels with a similar good location

We recently stayed three nights at the Hotel España. As advertised, this boutique hotel is full of Modernist charm. I had booked the hotel in January after confirming that my family of four could have two connecting rooms. I reconfirmed via email one week before our trip and was again assured that my request was confirmed. Upon arrival, I was... More

Lovely hotel with great location. Some rooms get light from a shaft rather than a direct outside view. Rooms were immaculate. Bathrooms are exquisite. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Roof top bar is an added attraction. The central location is very close to Plaza de Catalunya where you can catch the airport bus or the hop on/hop off... More

The Staff was alway access able with suggestions. Roof top bar a good way to fishish the evening. The location is just tucked back far enough but access to the labyrinth of the Gothic quarter was perfect. Great exploring to be done from there!

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful old building but with very modern amenities. Quite, comfortable and exceptionally styled room with plenty of space and excellent shower room. Free mini bar with water, juice and small snacks. Staff very helpful and friendly. The restaurant / breakfast prices seemed high, so we didn't eat in the hotel (though the menu did look wonderful... This is a truly fantastic hotel right in the heart of Barcelona adjacent to the Liceu Opera house and just off the middle of the Ramblas. It is steeped in history and was renovated back to original 19th century condition a few years ago. All the public spaces, bar, restaurants, lobby etc are stunning and of equal standard to many... The hotel location was perfect for tourists - in the heart of the Rambla. The metro station was right at the start of the street, and tourist buses were 5 minutes away. The rooms are beautifully and newly decorated, with all modern facilities. The hotel itself is worth the visit, in art deco style, with 24h room service, and a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 4 Star Superior Hotel España is located in the heart of Barcelona’s historic centre, adjacent to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Gothic Quarter. Opened in 1859, it was later renovated by the celebrated modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The hotel has always been considered a little gem of Barcelona modernism. Completely renovated in 2010, it combines modern interior design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building. The hotel’s restaurant service is under the management of the chef Martín Berasategui. ... more   less
