It is difficult to choose Hotel Espana's best feature: it's location, one minute off La Rambla puts you right in the centre; the design of the interiour, exteriour, restaurant, rooftop terrace and rooms are beautiful - we took the stairs on every opportunity as the staircases were so grand; and the service provided by the staff was fantastic. Location was perfect! A 2 min walk to La Rambla and Liceu Metro station which connects really well. The hotel reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The lady at the reception helped us on several occasions, giving us maps, and booked most of the dinners for us which was great. The bartenders at the roof top bar were also... More

My Sweetheart and I chose Hotel Espana because of its location and were not disappointed. It is just a block of La Rambla and its many feeder streets, full of shops and cafes. It's a short walk to the central plaza, the Gaudi house, and the Egyptian Museum, and a block away from a Metro station (Red line) that takes... More

My wife and I were in Barcelona for less than a day and spent our time only at this hotel. Pro's: - Clean and very stylish. Beautiful bathroom. - Bed was very comfortable - On site restaurant was delicious. Enjoyed the Duck Confit and wife had the Flank Steak. The Ham Croquettes were a great appetizer and the Banana Crepe... More

The strength of this hotel is definitely it's staff and it's location. Obviously being so close to La Rambla is fun, but after one stroll, go in any direction and you find great food, drink, art, architecture, history, present... There is a metro stop on La Rambla DIRECTLY in front of the hotel's street which is brilliant! It made the... More

Spent 3 nights in this hotel. I was looking for a hotel that was close to La Rambla and this hotel fitted the bill. Only a few minutes walk onto La Rambla. The hotel itself was lovely and very unusual. Public areas clean and well maintained. Reception staff pleasant and efficient. The room itself spotless and the bathroom well appointed.... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Espana with another couple for two nights before cruising on the new Regal Princess. We paid 149 Euros per night each room booking through Hotels.com. Location: couldn't get a better location right off la ramblas, near subway station and could walk to beach if you wanted a longer walk. We were in a group so got an uber cab to other attractions a bit further away. Plenty of good bars and restaurants in walking distance. Rooms: we were in a basic room, very nice although... More

There are definitely pros and cons of staying in this hotel. The location was great and the staff was helpful and friendly. We loved the modernisme features in the design! The stairwells and inside balconies were beautiful. However, though we loved the look of the modern design of our room, we found some of the amenities lacking in function. The... More

The 4 Star Superior Hotel España is located in the heart of Barcelona’s historic centre, adjacent to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Gothic Quarter. Opened in 1859, it was later renovated by the celebrated modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The hotel has always been considered a little gem of Barcelona modernism. Completely renovated in 2010, it combines modern interior design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building.
