Really lovely recently modernised Hotel, right in the middle of the action, if you enjoy exploring, most of the attractions are within a reasonable time frame to walk to. Great Hotel, Great staff, Great location

The Staff was alway access able with suggestions. Roof top bar a good way to fishish the evening. The location is just tucked back far enough but access to the labyrinth of the Gothic quarter was perfect. Great exploring to be done from there!

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful old building but with very modern amenities. Quite, comfortable and exceptionally styled room with plenty of space and excellent shower room. Free mini bar with water, juice and small snacks. Staff very helpful and friendly. The restaurant / breakfast prices seemed high, so we didn't eat in the hotel (though the menu did look wonderful... This is a truly fantastic hotel right in the heart of Barcelona adjacent to the Liceu Opera house and just off the middle of the Ramblas. It is steeped in history and was renovated back to original 19th century condition a few years ago. All the public spaces, bar, restaurants, lobby etc are stunning and of equal standard to many... The hotel location was perfect for tourists - in the heart of the Rambla. The metro station was right at the start of the street, and tourist buses were 5 minutes away. The rooms are beautifully and newly decorated, with all modern facilities. The hotel itself is worth the visit, in art deco style, with 24h room service, and a... More

Beautiful hotel, excellent location, very friendly staff....but....unfortunately; upon arrival tv-set not functioning, water in shower stays in shower ( not draining, or very very slowly) and free wifi at 11mbps ( in 2014???)...Oh, and don't let the rooftop swimming pool- pictures fool you; the swimming pool is about 3m x 5m (or so....).The rooftop terrace has a brilliant cocktailbar though....OK,let's see... This hotel is down a small side street in the heart of La Rambla (the busiest street in Barcelona). What a perfect location. 2 minute walk to a metro station, and 5 minute walk to one of the stops of the tour bus. Plenty of restaurants, shops, currency exchange, street art, all within a couple of minutes from the hotel.... More

The hotel is located off Las Ramblas adjacent to the Liceu (Opera) in Barcelona. The street is relatively quiet during the day and we had no disturbances at night. The staff were friendly and were very helpful with directions and with resolving problems (we had an A/C problem in our room that was quickly resolved). The room was clean and... More

When in Barcelona we always try hotels near to The Ramblas. This hotel was ideally located, couldn't pick one better, we wouldn't recommend any of the others we stayed in previously. We arrived around 1pm but our room was ready for us, the reception staff were very pleasant and spoke fluent English. They insisted on taking our bags up to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 4 Star Superior Hotel España is located in the heart of Barcelona’s historic centre, adjacent to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Gothic Quarter. Opened in 1859, it was later renovated by the celebrated modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The hotel has always been considered a little gem of Barcelona modernism. Completely renovated in 2010, it combines modern interior design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building. The hotel’s restaurant service is under the management of the chef Martín Berasategui. ... more   less
