Whilst this hotel is adequate for a short stay it is not located in the most desirable of areas. It was a little discerning that on checking in the first thing you are advised about is the high crime problem in Barcelona and despite this warning my wife and I still became the victims of a pickpocketing gang on the... Location was good being a 5 minute walk from Placa Catalunya. A bit dated but our room was fine - after changing from the original 6th floor room they gave us which was not serviced by the elevator (it only went to 5th floor). Breakfast was just OK. If you just want a good location in a clean, inexpensive (for... More

This hotel is ideally situated for many attractions in Barcelona. Although it appears dated it has a certain rustic charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. The only criticism I have is that my room was lacking in natural light. However, as we were out most of... More

The thing we loved about this hotel was how Catalonian it felt.... It is not a super-efficient, bland anywhere-anyplace hotel. It is a small, quirky and charming hotel in a convenient part of Barcelona, well placed for the Ramblas and lots of local restaurants and bars - it is near the university and has lots of students living nearby -... we stayed in the property for 2 days recently. The place is at an excellent location near to Las Ramblas and access to Metro station. The hotel is small but resonably comfortable with helpful reception staff. Rooms are reasonably comfortable and balcony was nice. Not much choice in breakfast. Fruit finished much before the end of breakfast time and was... More

Lovely quaint hotel, with pretty courtyard breakfast area. Our room had a balcony, which was fantastic, but the room generally felt pretty run down. The air con kept switching itself off so it got extremely hot during the night and we kept having to switch it back on. No safe in the room and the reception charges to use the... More

We booked a week in this hotel through British Airways and really enjoyed our stay. It has a lot of character with an old fashioned decor and from what we saw it was spotlessly clean throughout. It is close to the Ramblas,Catalonya Pl, and the metro, also the university is close by so there is a lot of hustle and bussle... Hotel was clean, rooms are basic, breakfast was continental and you could have as much as you liked. It was near to LAS RAMBLAS which you could walk down to Christopher Columbus monument, port and museums. Also near was transport to go around Barcelona. The staff are excellent.

old , worn & basic but clean . room at front of hotel small & noisy at night time Breakfast was awful hard bread not much choice except 2 types of salami & the only fruit was melon. Really the worse we've ever come across. Staff all excellent except in the dinning room where the staff were miserable. Good situation... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
