This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. My first clue should have been that there was no way to identify the place and I had to go to three businesses before the restaurant right below it showed me how to ring for the manager. It took about 15 minutes to be let in and our hostess was... More

We chose this hostel because it seemed a good option, big rooms and great location right by the mercado de la Boquería. However it turned out to be HELL during the night, it would seem you are sleeping right in the middle of the street, you can hear absolutely everything that's going on (and Raval is a very busy area)... The Hostel is really in the middle of Barcelona (1min to Boceria market), and at this price it's a bargain. The reception at the restaurant below is very kind, you can let your bags beore/after the checkout. Even if the rooms themselves are simple, it's a good and clean place to stay. And the breakfast in the mroning, starting at... More

We stayed at C40 for 2 nights and loved it. The location is perfectly situated just off the Ramblas and the building had true character inside. The staff were great, and were always there to help. The breakfast was also very nice and had a good selection to choose from.

Been coming for 4 years now, and my last stay was not nice : stains on the sheet (who got replaced) then a wonky bed (we changed room for a smaller one without compensation), in both bathroom, the shower and sink was blocked. The kitchen looked a bit sad. Struggled to feel the love this time. And the team who... More

Great hostel, great location, great staff at the bar downstair where you have the breakfast !! Really near to La Rambla and the Boqueria market. This is a big apartement with several bedrooms, charged bathrooms, a kitchen, lounge area, etc. Breakfast was great, and the cocktails at night also (specialy during happy hours ;) ) We stayed there for 4... Stayed in Feb '14 and this place is great value for money. Room was spacious, clean and tidy with fresh sheets and towels. Choice of three bathrooms on the floor, all clean and two very large ones with shower. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking, large lounge area, dinning conservatory and nice outdor terrace. Does not feel like your traditional... More

Hostel is placed in a very good location - near to the main tourists’ attractions. Nice and tidy rooms in old tenement make an atmosphere of old Barcelona. Great place downstairs for breakfasts, dinners and drinks!

It's a beautiful period building with impressive architectural features. These features are respected by careful maintenance, which contributes to creating a great atmosphere. Add to this an excellent staff, welcoming, helpful, courteous and always professional. I've stayed here before with my family and I'll be back again!

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
