We stayed 2 nights in a twin room at this nice hostel in the center of Barcelona. The hostel is located in a nice house close to the old town which is a 10mn walk away. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, colorful and renovated. A small breakfast with coffee and tea is included. The best part of the hostel... More

Stumbled across this gem online and were so glad we did! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and well-intentioned to make the best possible trip! They gave us great tips on where to go and eat (off the beat and path - which we really appreciated). The rooms had recently been redecorated and were very simplistic, yet stylish and comfortable.... We really enjoyed our stay at the Violetta (Ella) hostel. It is close to transport and we could walk to La Ramblas. The staff are so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Nice breakfast and hot drinks provided all day. The hostel is spotlessly clean, and has a lovely terrace area. It is also in a... More

This hostel has now changed its name to Ella. The rooms are clean and linen changed daily. Hot drinks are readily available at all times and the staff are very friendly and hard-working. The bathroom facilities are fine, although based within the room. There is a lovely terrace area to relax aling with a small lounge area. A great place... More

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon and we had an amazing time. The hostel was absolutely spotless and Paolo and Mariana who work on the front desk are amongst the most helpful, lovely people you could ever hope to meet. The hostel is also in a great location, close to the Metro, places to eat/drink and shops.... More

Overall the Violeta Hostel is great, the staff are really lovely, the location is amazing, the rooms are nice and clean. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 9 nights and were very really pleased with the wonderful service - Paolo and Maria are really lovely and friendly. The only negative comment I have is that the terrace area has... More

Great location ad WONDERFUL service! Paolo and Maria were so helpful and friendly, rooms were extremely clean, beds were comfy and cleaned daily. They have a patio area outside that you can relax and have your breakfast on and enjoy a bottle of wine at night, they even have a vending machine loaded with beers! Stayed at this hostel in July 2014 and we did have an alright time but we just felt the room was rather small and musty, it had no window to the outside, the hostel location is not really near the city centre, there is a metro which is up the street which will take you into the centre in about... This was a fine place to stay for our family of 4(2 adults and 2 kids) for 4 days in Barcelona. Location is central, price is fair, accommodations were clean and a nice terrace to eat. Note: the name will son be changing to 'Ella Hostel Barcelona'.

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
