As other reviews have stated, the location of this hotel can't be beat. Even if you don't have a view of La Catedral, which we didn't, it is a great choice. So much is within walking distance, which definitely enhanced our stay. We loved meandering around the Gothic Quarter, El Born, Las Ramblas - all within minutes of this hotel.... More

We stayed three nights and loved it. Following TA advice we requested a "cathedral view" room and it was enchanting. Open the windows and you have a delightful breeze blowing through the branches of the tree outside your room most of the day with the sounds of the cathedral bells sounding every fifteen minutes. If you need a "quiet" room... More

Nice hotel in perfect location to see most major sights. Room in rear of hotel was quiet and nice size. Don't miss the terrace for a drink with a wonderful view of Barcelona. Breakfast was standard for European hotels and room is large.

We stayed at the Colon hotel in april 2015. The hotel is quite old, but I would advise anyone who goes to Barcelona to stay at the Colon. Everything is very clean, and I mean Very. You should also have diner at least once in the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was fairly standard but certainly a plus (in high season there... More

Beautiful view of the Cathedral from our balcony, the room was of good size, clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and efficient. Location was central with easy reach of La Rambla and Placa Catalunya. To sum up we would stay here again and intend to.

The hotel is in the heart of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, and while it isn't right in the centre of this fascinating city, it is nevertheless handily placed for exploring it fully. This is because there are Metro stations within walking distance and are ideal for getting about - and easy to use. Plus the Gothic Quarter itself is... More

The staff, facilities and breakfast were superior. The entire staff was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. The room (#123) was clean and well appointed with a bonus balcony. The buffet breakfast had a great variety of delicious items to please everyone.

Definitely worth the money, while the rooms are Large, the balcony is twice the size of the room with lounge chairs a table and overlooks the cathedral. Great... More

I really liked this hotel, the rooms had a 1920's feel to them whilst the spa area was much more modern and a lovely plus at the end of a long day sight seeing. The location was fantastic and all of the staff were courteous and friendly, I would definitely stay again!

Just spent a relaxing luxurious 5 nights here. Pushed the boat out and went for a superior room with Cathedral view terrace. This turned out to be a blissful sun trap with acres of space and ample garden furniture. Oh and lemon and lime trees growing there too. Staff friendly and attentive and bar prices very reasonable. Money well spent... More

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
