This Hostal is situated in a fantastic location in the Barrio Gotico which is the best place to stay in Barcelona. It is a short walk from La Rambla and the metro. It is on about the 4th floor of an old building with stairs that seem to go on forever. There is no option of a lift which can... More

We loved our stay here. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location was amazing! The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable and speak perfect English (such a relief!) I would definitely come here again! Just a tip- the hotel is a little hard to find- there is no big sign, it's just a door on a... More

This is a great hotel, recently renovated with comfortable rooms. I stayed in a room with a shared bathroom (which was always kept clean and never had to wait more than 5 minutes). The location is amazing with bars, tapas, clubs and all the sites of the Gothic Quarter just minutes walk away. It's close to a supermarket and the... More

This is the worst hostal I have ever stayed. If you have anything more than a backpack, you will struggle going up the stairs and nobody will help you. NO AC, just a LOUD ceiling fan!! Very expensive for what is has to offer!!

The hostal -4 sets of stairs up - offers clean, modern rooms with excellent beds. We took a room with a shared bathroom, which was always nice and clean. The location couldn't be better, just off metrostation Jaume 1. The only downside is that the acoustics aren't as they should be. You can hear everything you neighbors do.

I'm writing this review from inside our hostel which has free, working (not always the case with hotels) wifi. This hostel is cute, tiny, up four flights of steep stone stairs and appears to be newly renovated on the inside. Our room is comfortable and clean, with thick laundry-smelling comforters (trust me, a plus) and a tiny balcony overlooking bustling... More

Nitzs Bcn is a very small hostel that is centrally located in the Gothico area. It is on the second floor, so there is quite a hike up a narrow stairwell, which is difficult when grappling with heavy luggage. The rooms are very small, but clean and well maintained. Each bedroom has its own sink. The main shared bathroom is... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
