We loved this place, Marcelo, Olivier and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The shared bathroom was spotlessly clean and well equiped. We would highly recommend staying here. It was in an excellent location and very easy to find from the airport. The neighbourhood felt safe and was... More

My husband and I stayed at Casa Marcelo last September during our Euro-Trip and it was by far the best accommodations during our entire 3 week vacation. Olivier and Marcelo were such fantastic hosts! We arrived earlier in the morning and they were most accommodating with our arrival time. We were met with a lovely breakfast which we were also... More

Our stay at Casa Marcelo was excellent. The room and bathroom were both comfortable and clean. Both owners, Olivier and Marcelo were friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect, right in the center of trendy El Born with lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance, a stroll away from Las Rambla and the famous Mercat De La Boqueria, and very... People give this guest house great reviews for a reason! We stayed here five nights in June and could not asked for more ideal accommodations. Marcelo is a wonderful host, friendly and helpful. We took the balcony room which was a great spot to people watch the action in El Born. Be warned however: the room was noisy in the... More

My partner Bill and I stayed for three nights at Casa Marcelo at the end of May. The room was great, and the common areas were beautiful. Olivier greeted us and offered us breakfast, which was really nice after a long flight. He was also really helpful in setting up tickets for us to the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell.... More

We spent the first two days of our honeymoon here and we absolutely loved it! The building is beautiful, I loved the room and the decor and it was very clean! We had a shared bathroom but it was never a problem, especially because of the extra little washroom that is available in the apartment. The location is great, we... More

Casa Marcelo was the perfect home base for our two-and-a-half-day stay in Barcelona before boarding a Mediterranean cruise. Room 3 was spacious, had a comfortable king-size bed, and a private bath. Opening the floor-to-ceiling windows provided fresh, cool breeze for comfortable sleeping (and some sounds of the city). Marcelo was a great host, making recommendations for our sightseeing plans and... More

Location is very convenient in the charming El Born district. The apartment is very clean and well kept. Olivier was warm, charming and extremely helpful, and the rest of the staff very pleasant and friendly. He sat down with us upon arrival and patiently helped us fine tune our 3-day itinerary, giving advice on restaurants, booking tickets to Sagrada Familia,... More

Everything from when we arrived to when we left I couldn't fault.. whenever I visit Barcelona I'll stay here.. it was like home from home. I was travelling as a young girl with my 6 year old son and they made us feel so safe and welcome. Beautiful neighbourhood and if I could bottle the feeling I felt when I... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
