Please note this place is not a hotel, but a 5 bedroom flat in an apartment building. There is not any sign with the name of the property at the front door !! So be sure to contact the host and clarify hot you find the place and how you get in. This will be the only concern, however. The... More

The B and B was perfect for me - the rooms are clean, the shared bathroom was spotless and a good size, everywhere had a quiet elegance. It was easy to find from the map provided. On arrival Olivier took the time to find out what I wanted to see in Barcelona and gave very helpful advice. My room was... More

After a long 4 year wait, we came back to BCN and back to the Casa de Marcelo. Again the staff are great....rooms impeccable, bathrooms spotless and never needed to wait for the shared bathroom. The breakfast is good ... more than enough to get you up and out the door for a great day... Location cant be beaten. Olivier... More

We arrived via train from Figueres and the B&B was very easy to find from the instructions given - within walking distance from the Stn Franco stop. We were promptly met by Oliver. Oliver was the perfect host. He helped us familiarize ourselves, settled us in and recommended areas and restaurants to go to. Oliver phoned and made dinner reservations... More

Second time staying at Casa Marcelo and it won't be my last. Great location for walking the Gothic Quarter or Barceloneta and easy access to public transportation. Many fine restaurants and shopping in this pedestrian only area. Marcelo is a perfect host who can answer any of your traveler questions, make reservations and his recommendations are right on. Marcelo meets... More

Note this was the first time I've stayed in a B&B (normally I stay in hotels - so you may have to take this with a grain of salt). Overall great location and small, but nice room. On the harbor edge of Barri Gothic, across the street from Franca train station, a couple blocks from Parc de la Ciutadella and... More

We loved this place and can highly recomend it. It is a really beautiful apartment located in a perfect part of Barcelona. The bedrooms are nice and where we stayed it was really quiet. Marcelo is a very nice host as well! The breakfast was a Little light but as we could use the fridge in the kitchen it was... More

Two year ago we visited Casa Marcelo for the first time. When we decided to go to Barcelona again, the place where to stay was a no brainer. Nothing was changed since last time we stayed there and that's in this case a blessing. Location is great, in El Borne. Marcelo and Oliver still are charming hostst. And rooms are... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
