We had a lovely weekend break at Marcelo and Olivier place. Location is excellent, although the taxi driver from the airport had a little difficulty finding the address, ie. studying a map/ a to z, while driving into the city. Fantastic range of tapas bars and small shops within walking distance, and Olivier and Marcelo were extremely helpful in advice,... More

I visited in July with a friend and it was overall an excellent experience. Oliver made us feel at home and was very helpful showing us where to go in Barcelona. The other staff were all very friendly and helpful too. Being two young females, the homely feel of the house made us feel safe and relaxed. Breakfast was simple... More

I spent a long weekend at Casa Marcelo with my girlfriend. Location is amazing, just in the heart of La Ribera and few minutes walking to La Barceloneta beach. One of the best Tapas bar is just in front of the house. The place is nice, clean and well maintained and Olivier and Marcelo make you feel like at home.... More

This place to stay was a delight in Barcelona. I was only visiting for 4 days, but Casa Marcelo was accommodating to my last minute plans. The highlights: - Oliver was so welcoming when I arrived. He was waiting for me to get there as I had told him the time. He had water for me. And we sat down... More

I stayed at Marcello's last year with my girlfriend. The place is right in the center in a really nice area of Barcelona. i advice this place for several reasons: it's nice, cleaned, silent, cheap and the girl that works in there (as wel as the owner Marcelo) is really nice and friendly.

This was our first time staying at B&B. it was a very good experience staying at Casa Marcelo which is located in the heart of El Born, with lots of tapas bars, boutique shops, metro, sightseeing places nearby. Olivier is a wonderful host. He was very helpful in providing all sorts of assistance during our stay. We would defiantly stay... More

One of the best B&Bs we have stayed in (and we've stayed in a few). Great location in the Born, a few minutes walk to the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, metro stations and railway. A beautiful house, an excellent, caring host in Olivier, great restaurant recommendations, helpful suggestions re booking museums, entertainment, travel plans etc. Good wine available, honesty bar... Casa Marcelo is perfectly located in the heart of the old city, with tapas bars, small alley ways, boutique shops and many sights right in front of your doorstep. The building with its high ceilings and classic tile floors was the perfect complement to this historic city. In addition, Olivier was a great host, very responsive, super helpful and always... The location is very good. El Born has a lot of good restaurants, narrow streets, and beautiful old buildings. It's a very nice area for walking. Room #3 was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was good, especially the bread. Olivier is very kind and very helpful. He has good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. We would definitely stay... More

First, the location of this B & B is great. Right out the front door, you are in the center of Born district, which has the old charm that you are looking for in an European city with rich history. Second, the host, Olivier makes the guest feel like being home. He is helpful and gives guests personal recommendations on... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
