We stayed 1 night prior to boarding a cruise in Barcelona. We got there early and they allowed us to keep our big and full suitcases in the office across the square until the apartment was ready at 3pm. There is a lift but it's between floors so you do have to go up a few stairs to get to... More

La Casa de les Lletres made our stay in Barcelona a very enjoyable one. After a long day of touring the city, it was such a relief to come back to the cozy studio apartment they provided for us. It had amazing views, and was very accommodating for the 3 of us. The price was tremendously reasonable for the 2... More

Stopped here for 1 night on our 3 night trip to Barcelona. Hotel arranged for us to be picked up from airport for 40 euros. Cost us 37 euros coming back from other hotel we stopped at so well worth organising this as less hassle when arriving at the airport. Reception was in the restaurant underneath apartments and the lady... More

This was a great hotel and very accessible by cab or foot. We were able to wander through the Barri Gotic district and easily access a cab for all other major sites. We were with our 4 year old and 6 year old, so we enjoyed having separate bedrooms with comfortable beds for all of us. The kitchens helped for... More

Stayed in the George Orwell apartment (4th floor) June 13-17 Upon arrival, Anna greeted me right away. Management office is just across the way, and when I encountered a slight complication hours into my visit they were very accommodating. Apartment was clean and well equipped. Better yet is the location! I look forward to another visit.

That pretty much sums it up. You'll find everything you need and much more. Walking distance from the port and beach with all the bars n restaurants. If it weren't for the noisy kids that sit in the plaza Antonio lopez after their outings it would be an overall 10. The smell of fish from the downstairs restaurant is not... More

Bed bugs - need I say more. I stayed on the 5th floor - Barral. Shocked to say the the least that a high priced guest house could have this problem. What was even more shocking is how it was dealt with. After discovering them early morning/midnight (rim of mattresses, bedsheets) after my arrival and called/left a message to complain,... More

Dear Global Traveler... We are sincerely sorry for all this inconveniences that have been caused to you during your stay here. For all of us, staff members, it was the first time ever seen and we did not have any protocol ready to follow. Our first natural reaction was to accommodate you at best by giving you another room immediately... More

We stayed here from april 17 til 21 2013 on the top floor with a nice sun terrace. The location is good, near the harbor, walking distance to Ramblas (in case you want to waste time there), subway (yellow line) and nice shops and restaurants (walk out the front door, cross the street, and keep walking straight forward). The managing... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Casa de les Lletres is like a small, family-run boutique hotel with six charming apartments. It boasts an excellent location, in Barcelona’s central Gothic quarter, next to the Mediterranean Sea and the old port. The apartments themselves are in a historic 18th-century building that has been meticulously renovated. The interior conserves the building’s period features and combines them with contemporary design. In all, the apartments provide privacy and comfort in a tasteful setting. By means of a selection of well-known authors with ties to Barcelona, literature is the theme that ties the project together and provides cultural content that supports a deeper understanding of the city. On the ground floor, on Plaça Antonio López, El Cafè and La Terrassa round off the services offered in the apartments. Here guests can enjoy traditional cuisine with a contemporary twist. The menu includes a selection of tapas and Mediterranean dishes made with locally sourced produce, as well as a number of breakfast options. ... more   less
