Although several reviews have praised the location of the hostel, I would caution visitors that the area around the hostel is excessively focused on tourism. It is almost entirely without defining local characteristics and represents the worst possible option of location for your stay. Nevertheless, if you want to stay on Las Ramblas, this hostel is your worst option. The... More

The building is very run down outside, but the location is GREAT! Right off the Rambas. You need to press the buzzer outside, not be let in but to notify them you are there. When you enter you are in a med. size room with huge holes in the wall and an elevator at the centre of the back wall... More

Room was ideal for location, right next to La Ramblas. We paid a little more for a room with a balcony, which even with everything closed, sadly didn't stop any of the noise getting in. Room was clean, but the photos make it look much nicer than it is. Shared bathroom and lobby had a horrible smell. Staff were helpful... More

I stayed at the hostal which was in the perfect location if you want to be close to the Ramblas and on a budget! The place itself is basic, you get a room, shared showers, the room is small with a tv and a sink. You are minutes from the beach, ramblas and the market! I would recommend this place... More

Perfect location, nice and clean. The included breakfast is not worth writing home about, but you don't have to walk far in order to find something nice to eat. But if you like it clean, this is probably the place to be if you you don't want to spend much.

Upon arrival, I have to admit I did wonder what I had booked (the door was covered in graffti). The hostel is located just a few meters from the famous Las Ramblas and is a fantastic location. Going back to the initial impression and entering the building, at first we thought we may have taken a wrong turn, but as... More

We stayed here for a few days in May lovely hostel, lovely people, the rooms are basic but what more do you need in them for only to sleep. it is a bit daunting when you first approach the place but it is grand once you get inside. it is in a great location, just a few minutes walk to... More

Great location. The inside is very very clean. Loved the bathrooms.if you have ear plugs bring them- the street is noisy at night. Free breakfast included from 8-930. It is a 24 access hostel yet the staff can get annoyed letting someone in after 2 (sorta reminded me of sneeking out to a party and coming back to grandma's house..grandma... More

My mom and I walked past many beautiful hotels on our way down La Rambla to Hostal Albi. When we arrived at the hostel we were quite put off by the graffiti covered door and bare lobby. We were buzzed in and headed up. Apprehensive, we got into the hostel and were VERY pleasantly surprised. Maîte was very welcoming and... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
