This hotel is fairly conveniently situated but there are a few things that let it down. The decor of the hotel is nice but any refurbishment seems to have stopped at the door to the rooms as once you step inside they are fairly tired. We visited when it was very hot outside and the air conditioning took about 45minutes... More

Great location in the Gothic quarter, near the marina and 20 min walk to the beach. Hotel was nicely appointed and our 2 rooms both had balconies which was surprising for a city hotel and good for an evening cava. Only slight let down was a smell of drains in both rooms but not a big issue. Road noise might... More

We actually booked a room at another hotel near by but they we're overbooked so we got moved to Hotel Colonial. I have to say for the rate we paid the hotel is lovely and modern and clean. The view from our balcony was also a plus, we enjoyed sitting out there. The only thing I didn't like was there... More

This hotel is in very good located area, the room was excellent , the bed very comfortable, the bathroom was almost new and with enough soap and towels. Situated at the Gotic neighborhood and with distance walk to the Ramblas ,the Barceloneta, the Cathedral and all the outdoors . The hotel staff especially, Lizard, Jose and Mark, service us in... Following on from my last review- on the second day we were moved to a nicer twin room lower down with a balcony and views of the street. The shower was amazing. We were pleased and enjoyed the rest of our stay here. The hotel is in a great location close to the gothic quarter and a 20 minute walk... More

My friend and I specifically requested a twin bedroom when we booked the hotel 2 weeks ago. The hotel confirmed that we would get twin rooms but when we arrived today we were told that there were no twin rooms available. Instead We were given a tiny double room with a small window view of the inside of the building... More

Only got better. We arrived, me and my son, at 10am. They have managed to arrange a room in 15 minutes. We got a twin bed room which we asked for. The room, on the 2nd floor (210) was not too big but had the required facilities including a small fridge for the water. The vending machines have 2EU bottles,... More

Stayed at the HCB in May, loved the location, access to shops, gothic quarter, cruise ships and beach was just wonderful. However, the rooms were dark especially if you only had one window, I noticed other rooms had two. It was very clean, and nicely decorated but oh so dark. There was no complimentary tea or coffee in the rooms,... More

The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to many attractions and to all public transportation options. Checkin was swift and friendly. I was surprised to learn they charge 2 euro per day for use of the in room safe. This was a first for me and makes you wonder if they are trying to cash in on the reputation... More

Great location, it is near a metro station. Great staff at the hotel, it was clean but the only downside is if you stay at the back of the hotel you get a view of the wall of the building next door. So prefer to book a room at the front of the hotel. And another thing the breakfast was... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
