It's convenient only for its location, 150 metres away from Plaza Catalunia. Otherwise, mind the time you arrive, as there might not be anybody to do the check-in, so contact the hostal to find out. As to the room we had, very basic, a shelf on top of your pillow can be a danger when waking up in room 2;... More

Barcelona has loads of turists....it's like they can' t be bothered to make you feel at home, they don't realise what would happen if tourists would stop pouring in. This hostal, it more of a hostel than a hotel, is very well placed...meters from plazza Catalunya and upper part of Las Ramblas, people at the reception were polite and quite... More

Comfortable beds but doors banging, bells ringing, people shouting made for no sleep for our 2 night stay. Location great, straight off airport bus and less than 2 minute walk and a 2 minute walk to La Rambla :-)

Would not recommend after staying for 5 days. The rooms are very small, particularly the bathroom where you can hardly squeeze in. Walls are thin and noise can be a problem. The floors and walls were old and dusty. There are much better 2 star hotels in barcelona city centre for a cheaper price (from personal experience). After staying here... More

For a 3 days stay, the location was amazing, in the center of the city, away from all the night noise, room was small but acceptable, however the toilet/bathroom was really inconvenient : very small and hard to move. Also, with no AC it was sometimes difficut to sleep

We stayed here for three nights and I strongly recommend anyone to find another place. First of all there was money stolen from our room, most likely by the man who let us in. When we complained about it, they said it must have been stolen by pickpockets on the street but we had not taken the money with us... More

I'm not sure why there are not more reviews of this budget choice for accommodations in Barcelona as it was a safe, clean affordable choice in an otherwise pretty overpriced area. Pros: -Location, location, location. It's steps from Plaça de Catalunya, where you can catch transit and particularly the bus to and from the airport, and of course taxis. You... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
