Nice place, no elevator but perfect for us. The location was impressive and amazing. Close to the Gothic City and walking distance to everything you must see in Barcelona. We had to wait until 9:00 AM for the front desk open the door for us. We landed early from NY and needed to check in , but we couldn't so... More

I booked for one person but ended up with a two-bedroom apartment (luck of the draw?). Check-in (I had to wait until 3 pm) was at the hotel, about 3 minute walk from the apartment. Once you arrive at the building, you enter a stark entryway which is most often dark (it presumably has a timed light). You have to... More

We stayed in the top floor apartment. It was pokey and all windows looked out onto brick walls. There was a small rooftop terrace which was accessed through metal grills. The lock was faulty and it took about 10 mins to get out. The main problem however was the lack of fire instructions. Absolutley nothing!!!. In the event of a... More

We went on a family break. Having been before and stayed in the Born District, we knew our way around. This is the perfect place to enjoy your stay. The apartment was great. Tons of space in a small area, if you visit you'll know what I mean! One end of the street is the huge park with Barcelona Zoo,... More

Ignoring the fact that the first apartment we were given was dirty (the previous occupants appeared to have checked out but the apartment had not been touched since). Bed linen was dirty, beds unmade etc. These apartments are quite nicely furnished and are similar to the photos shown. They are spacious and I loved the bedroom areas. However they are... More

Dear Rebecchi Thank you for taking the time to write a review about chic & basic Born Apartments. But i must say that things have changed, since your last stay in May 2014. We have changed all Windows in all bedrooms, with double crystal. We still have not the permit from the city to change them, but, we were looking... More

This was the BEST place we stayed in during our entire Spain trip! I would love to live in an apartment like this in this very location. Could not have asked for a better place to spend our last 5 nights in Spain. We were checked in by Ana at Chic&Basic Born. She was adorable! Very talkative and gave us... More

Great location near the metro station Jaume I, close to supermarket, restaurants, bars, shops. Spacious enough for 4 adults, very well equipped in order to prepare breakfast and dinner. Fantastic value of money. We would definitely recommend it.

We stayed three nights with a small child. Good aspects 1. lots of space - good if you have a child as they have plenty of space and the bedrooms have an adjoining door you can leave ajar if you like. 2. good kitchen (though we couldn't get the oven to work), has Nespresso machine, microwave etc - you can... We stayed in a self catering apartment which is located along the road from the hotel. It is situated in a the vibrant Latin Quarter of Barcelona and is surrounded by awesome tapas bars and restaurants, and chic shops. This is the area to be - keep away from La Ramblers where the prices are expensive and the food is... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
